Your home should be a place of warmth and comfort. And if you live alone, it is the ultimate place where you can be yourself. Living alone has its advantages as well as disadvantages. But then again, “alone” literally means “without company”, and for some people, this may seem like a disadvantage. Most people have jobs. Jobs give them a means of earning a living. For many of these people, their means of earning a living gives direction to where to go everyday, or what to do regularly. Jobs have given them a routine, so to speak. And so a “job” has become that – somewhere to go to and something to do- 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. On the other hand, a “job” can mean fulfillment for some. A means where they can channel their skills, energy and motivation. And it is when they become productive. The “job” which they so constantly do has defined them and it has become “work” instead.

I had a weight issue for some time in the past. I developed a condition which caused me to gain weight, and I had make means to be fitter to improve my health. Considering I was in quite a quandary, I knew trimming down was going to be a bit of a struggle for me. But at any cost, I also knew I had to do it- engage in a weight loss program. So I thought, where and how do I start? I thought about cutting out on my calorie intake, or dieting, so to speak. Loneliness. Such an unkind word which so many people would rather not know. But the fact is, loneliness is real. It besets anybody, and everybody. When a person feels lonely, he feels isolated. It may be isolation in a physical sense, or otherwise- emotionally or psychologically. A person physically alone and not in the company of others may feel lonely. After all, to be human is to be social. It is an inherent human need to feel a sense of connection to others. Or simply to belong, and furthermore be acknowledged. But a person can be alone without feeling lonely.
