Blushing And Flushing With Acne Rosacea

Tags: , , ,

The teenage years and early adulthood are the stages in which acne is prevalent. Acne is generally classified into several categories according to their nature and manifestations and acne is basically attributed to genetic, hormonal and environmental factors or overactive sebaceous glands. Although not posing any detrimental health risks, acne can be a major cosmetic issue to those who remain conscientious about their appearance.

Acne can defile a person’s natural beauty and they can even cause unsightly and permanent scars. This common skin condition can be bothersome especially when one sees those bumps and blemishes on the skin when looking at the mirror. A kind of acne whose symptoms are of a different kind is acne rosacea.

Acne rosacea is more likely to manifest between the ages of 30 to 50, and unlike other kinds of acne, this skin condition has no indications of blackheads or whiteheads but a reddish discoloration of the skin. This appearance of “blushing and flushing” is brought about by the enlargement and dilation of the blood vessels.

Acne rosacea affects more women than men but the condition can become more severe in men. There may be occurrences of pimples with this skin condition and it has the tendency to appear on the cheeks, forehead and the nose, otherwise known as “blush areas”. In its initial stages, the red discoloration in acne rosacea may come and go, but if left untreated, the condition can worsen even causing a permanent flushing appearance in the face.

In fact, in extreme cases, acne rosacea can disfigure the nose and cause the cheeks to be puffy and the only possible remedy for this severe damage is cosmetic surgery. Acne rosacea can cause a gritty feeling in the eyes as well and if not accordingly attended to, impaired vision can result.

Several contributing factors are thought of to be behind acne rosacea. The suspected undelying culprits behind acne rosacea can be emotional factors such as stress, anxiety, embarrassment or fear. Environmental factors such as weather changes, exposure to the sun, the wind and humidity can also lead to outbreaks of acne rosacea.

Certain foods such as spicy dishes and those high in saturated fats and refined sugar, coffee and alcoholic beverages can instigate the occurrence of acne rosacea as well. The same can be said about smoking and a diet not sufficient in Vitamin A, zinc, fiber, beta-carotene and omega 3 fish oil.

Initial outbreaks of acne rosacea can also be due to contact with mites and certain bacteria as well as the intake of heart disease medications used as vasodilators. With acne rosacea being entirely different from teenage acne, this skin disease requires different treatment options. Acne rosacea will not respond to over-the -counter acne medications, but such measures may even irritate the skin and worsen the condition.

By far, the accepted treatment measure for acne rosacea is a strong oral antibiotic generally reduced to a maintenance level or a topical cream regularly applied to affected areas. For acne problems, there are also safe and proven natural products such as Acnezine. Acnezine, being made up of natural and organic ingredients is gentle and caring to the skin yet effective.

Adhering to a diet sufficient in fruits and vegetables as well as adequate water intake and with the fitting acne product, acne rosacea can be done away with and what remains is a healthy, smooth and radiant face.
