As adolescence is a phase wherein significant hormonal changes take place, one may well anticipate what may seem to be emotional and physical irregularities. At times, this transition period can even be tumultuous as an adolescent generally goes through major adjustments. There may be out spurts of this and that in some parts of the body, and one of them is pimples.
Such a skin condition is prevalent among adolescents and may become one of the nagging issues, among others, that they have to contend with. The "pimple issue" may not only be annoying, but it can come to the point of being distressing, especially if an adolescent is conscientious about their skin or has a fragile self-esteem.

 The teenage years is basically a period in which much due is given on peer acceptance making physical appearance a vital element. Such is why pimples can put a dent on a teenager’s self-image and may even cause them to have low self-esteem. Consequently, their social interactions may be affected and adolescence can become an unpleasant experience.
When there is an onset of pimples, small skin lesions and inflammations become apparent on the face, the neck, the chest or even the back. Such skin blemishes are often caused by clogged and infected pores. Contrary to what many believe, pimples are not caused by what one eats such as soft drinks, chocolates or greasy foods nor do they occur because of dirt such as in the case of blackheads.
Blackheads which is a kind of pimple is caused by a pigment. Pimples are also not contagious. One will not catch it from somebody else. Hormones play a crucial role in pimple breakouts. Other than that, the most common culprit behind pimples is bacteria. Pimple breakouts occur when bacteria within the pores collect with oil and dead skin cells.
Although pimples are predominantly affecting teenagers, adults can suffer from this skin condition as well. There is generally a wide assortment of products for pimple treatment, the most common of which are oral and topical applications. Despite the numerous options, however, there remains to be no treatment which is guaranteed to get rid of pimples forever.
However, natural remedies are often a better choice not only because they are less costly but they are a gentle means of treatment as well. Natural or herbal pimple remedies are much safer than harsh and chemically concentrated products which can do damage to the skin in the long run.
Recommended pimple products are those which do not irritate the skin, and the best ones are those remedies with natural ingredients such as emu oil. It is a common notion however that when it comes to pimple treatment, one product may work for some, but for others it may not.
In some cases, prescription medications for pimples may be required. One major fact to take into account however is not to pop or squeeze the pimples as this will only aggravate the condition. Pimple-popping or squeezing will only cause more inflammation and redness. Much more so, more pimples are likely to break out as the pimple causing bacteria are spread.
