Kick Boxing For An Intense Cardio Workout

Tags: , , ,

One of the most intense cardio workouts gaining an increasing popularity nowadays is kick boxing. This form of workout may seem at all that novel, but in fact it is not. Kick boxing has had a long history of being a sport, and as early as the 1700’s there have been kick boxing competitions.

So is this form of workout really effective as a cardio exercise? One ought to know that learning kick boxing is like mastering a choreography or an aerobic dance. After all, when carrying out the workout, one becomes skilled in doing different sorts of hand techniques and steps. When doing the workout, one can go with their own pace until they gradually increase their level of intensity.

In kick boxing, one can well derive that there are punches as well as kicks. Such is why this workout is effective. The punching activities work on the upper body while all the kicking are targeted on lower body muscle workout. There is an increasing number of individuals incorporating kick boxing into their regular exercise regimen.

Other than joining the band wagon of its popularity, the workout does seem interesting not to mention that it has tremendous benefits on cardiovascular health. More so, it is an effective weight loss measure. When kick boxing, an individual combines kicking, punching and boxing. When doing so, they make use of the elbows and the knees as well as head blows, punches and kicks.

The workout appears to be a combination of karate and street fighting which all the more adds to its appeal. Kicks are directed into the shin area, so when one intends to join a kick boxing class, they better condition their shin to take all the blows. However, in a kick boxing workout, most would rather practice the techniques than actually kicking their workout partner.

In the fitness program, one gains an intensive cardio workout with the series of movements involving the arms and legs. Even more so with the spins and ducks. But as much as one would like to get carried away with the hype of a kick boxing workout, they must ensure that they initially do some warm ups.

Warming up and stretching is necessary when starting a kick boxing program. One must not get complacent thinking that they are fit enough to drastically engage in strenuous kick boxing as injury can ensue. In a basic kick boxing class one would initially perform repetitive stretches to get them started.

What follows is a series of repeated punches with alternating hand strikes. One then proceeds further by doing kicks and then finally use a combination of the three. Subsequent to carrying out the main part of the workout, one then does some stretching on the floor for cooling down. Dumbbells or weights are not included in the fitness program to prevent the possibility of one causing injury to their muscles.

Due to its popularity and appeal added with its health and weight loss rewards, kick boxing has been gaining a diversity of enthusiasts by attracting individuals of all ages.
