 In the pursuit of ultimate beauty, one may have to exert exigent efforts. One of the cosmetic issues which women find unappealing or downright unsightly is stretch marks. Basically everybody has grown familiar with such a beauty predicament as stretch marks generally appear when one has gone through excessive weight loss or weight gain. The viable treatments available merely provide relief from its symptoms or may reduce the unsightliness of such a skin dilemma but by far, no measure has been proven which can completely remove stretch marks. Varied options for stretch mark treatment abound in the market, though, some of which are topical creams, moisturizers and medications.
Other than that, there are also other measures such as techniques making use of laser technology and surgical procedures. As with almost all cases, there are advantages and drawbacks pertaining to each treatment measure. Creams and moisturizers are often accessible over the counter and are often the most prevalently used stretch mark treatment.
Such products may often be most effective when applied during the early stages of stretch marks manifestation. Over the counter moisturizers and creams for stretch marks generally contain Vitamins A and E. Other than creams with vitamin components, there are also stretch mark creams formulated with alpha hydroxy acids or AHA’s which are derived from plant extracts.
Creams of such nature diminish the visibility of stretch marks while keeping the skin supple as well. Then there is also Tretinoin, widely known as Retin-A, which is a commonly used topical cream for new, dark stretch marks. As for laser surgery which is extensively resorted to for treatment, such a measure may help in fading stretch marks, but then again not completely remove them.
Laser surgery is merely effective on darker areas of the skin and may be suited during the early stages of the appearance of darker stretch marks. Treatment employing laser surgery requires several sessions and results are largely dependent on one’s skin type and color. Abdominoplasty on the other hand is a surgery performed for stretch marks below the belly button and surgical resection involves surgically cutting out the stretch marks.
From among these varied treatment options, one can decide on which suits them best according to their desires and of course, budget.
