Bleeding gums is most likely a manifestation of gum disease. By gum disease, it means the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth are affected. Primarily, bacteria affects the gum tissues. These bacteria then turn into tartar or plaque build-up which in turn irritates the gums. Bleeding and receding of the gum tissues then result.
What are means for dealing with this condition? Top quality oral hygiene is one. As mentioned, bleeding gums develop due to bacteria. And bacteria in the oral cavity is done away with by keeping the mouth clean. Cancer sores may also be a factor, as in those caused by the herpes simplex virus.
And then aging- this can lead to degenerating dental health and thus bleeding gums may be anticipated. Early diagnosis proves to be a helpful means in treating this particular condition. Or else, tooth loss would occur. After all, you’d begin to lose your teeth once your gum tissues are weakened.
Other complications could develop in the same manner, especially when bleeding gums are neglected and left to worsen. Gingivitis which is a gum disease has bleeding gums as one of its symptoms. It is only necessary then that this condition (gingivitis) is addressed accordingly so the gum bleeding would stop.
The gums become swollen with gingivitis, and for many people, it could be painful as well. What about medications or supplements which can help remedy the bleeding and discomfort? Folic acid tablets are among the oral medication options. But more than resorting to further treatment options, be mindful of the basic—maintaining proper oral health and hygiene.
Brushing the teeth three times a day can go a long way when it comes to this concern. An all- natural, fluoride-free toothpaste would be a good product for regular brushing. The teeth ought to be brushed along the gum line, and the toothbrush angled at 45 degrees. In this manner, the toothbrush is up against your teeth and gums.
You can also jiggle your toothbrush back and forth, going in small, round strokes. It’s more like massaging the tissue than brushing. You can even add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil to the toothpaste. Longer and fresh smelling breath is then yours to enjoy along with strong and healthy teeth.
Provided of course, you practice proper oral healthcare regularly. Flossing, too, is an essential dental care measure. People as we are, and social beings, we need to relate and interact with others. So make it easier on yourself (and others) when doing so—practice good oral hygiene, and total hygiene for that matter.
