Facing Up With Sadness And Sorrow

Tags: , , ,

Sadness and sorrow. These words are often regarded by most with dislike. As much as most people don’t like the idea of sadness and sorrow, they are realities that have to be dealt with. Sadness and sorrow go with a host of other emotions. They can be pain, anger, regret and frustration to name a few.

These emotions can even be the root causes of sadness and sorrow. It may take an exigent emotional struggle to deal with sadness and sorrow. An emotional struggle is certainly an unpleasant experience. Not many people would like to go through them. But such a perspective may only serve to aggravate one’s personal circumstance.

Living is to be regarded as a duality of the positive and the negative. This duality works in a balance. One cannot be without the other. Each one serves a purpose for the other. Most people connote sadness and sorrow with the negative. They may be in a sense. However, when one anticipates that the negative goes with the positive, then they may have an even perspective.

When one says “Something good will come out of this”, then that makes a whole world of difference. At times, living is to be contended with being proactive and being positive. These can be the best means of meeting the incongruities of living. In most cases, these incongruities bring about a personal battle within a person.

One’s worst enemy is oneself, they say. Often it is the battle with the self which causes sadness and sorrow. Much more so if one loses. Sadness and sorrow are bound to beset everybody. When one is besieged by sadness and sorrow due to outside factors, it can be a tremendous predicament in itself.

But what can be more exacerbating is when guilt causes sadness and sorrow. Such instances can be due to one being the cause of trouble for others. Guilt can bring about self-hate and low self-esteem. The thought of being the cause of pain to others can be crippling. People often cause offense to others unknowingly.

This may mean that the offense may have been done due to heightened emotions. Only after the damage has been done can one realize their blunder. It is then when guilt and regret creep in. These can the cause sadness and sorrow to all the parties concerned. To do away with such circumstances, it is best that one becomes mindful.

Reason has to overpower emotions. One should always inculcate the attitude of being careful with words unleashed at the height of emotions. It is to be constantly kept in mind that emotions can be reasonable at times, and they are to be tamed. This perspective can preclude much sadness and sorrow.

Sadness and sorrow can be steered clear off when one has control. When one is fraught with sadness and sorrow, it is only necessary to see the big picture. Foremost in healing from sadness and sorrow is to forgive oneself. One can then see sadness and sorrow as opportunities for personal growth.

In most cases, living is to be faced up with the proper perspective. It is often in seeing the duality of the negative and the positive that one gains a clearer viewpoint. It is then that living becomes not so much of an unnecessary struggle.
