A Dose Of Unreality With Drugs And Alcohol

Tags: , , ,

Alcohol may be a welcome social drink. But in extreme amounts it is lethal. It can lead one to danger and even fatality. Alcohol is a harmful substance as much as it has perceived pleasant effects. Alcohol in itself is an issue. Alcohol intoxication has led to countless casualties. Statistics and front page news over time have proven so.

Alcohol alone has its danger. What more if it is mixed with drugs. Then a deadly combination is formed – drugs and alcohol. One can imagine the damage the mix of drugs and alcohol can instigate. Drugs alone are mind altering. Imagine how potent it can be when combined with alcohol.

These two can muddle up one’s psyche. And tremendously at that. When the psyche is altered, one should well expect the whole personality to be. The potent mix of drugs and alcohol by all means can lead to the destruction of one’s totality. But why does a person resort to drugs and alcohol.

Truly a person doing so is not in their senses. That’s the truth of the matter. A person taking drugs and alcohol exhibits no regard for their well-being. With drugs and alcohol, that person is basically leading themselves to damnation. Drugs and alcohol may have their euphoria but it camouflages a shadow.

That may be low self-esteem or a negative self-perception. Or maybe even guilt. A person can be trying to deaden their senses with drugs and alcohol. With drugs and alcohol, one gets their dose of unreality. Perhaps that’s what they need. Reality in itself may be too agonizing to live with.

With drugs and alcohol, a person doesn’t have to deal with reality or themselves. Drugs and alcohol make one run away from their demons. Only to find that everywhere they go the fiend still exists. Drug and alcohol addicts create their own horrendous monsters. They seek to escape reality and create a terrifying world of their own.

Such an altered state of reality must be horrid. Drugs and alcohol together can be so compelling. The damage and torment they cause can be unthinkable especially when taken over time. Those who take drugs and alcohol are deprived of strength and compassion. Not only from others but for themselves as well.

Alcohol and drug addicts live in a surrealistic nightmare. As much as society wants to ostracize them, they need help. For drug and alcohol addicts, they must initiate the first step. And that is acknowledging that they have a problem and that they need help. There must be the initiative in them to want to be better.

As much as reality can sometimes be unforgiving, drugs and alcohol will only aggravate one’s predicament. With help from family, friends and professionals, drug and alcohol addicts can muster the initiative to strive to be better. There is no need to dwell in the abyss created by drugs and alcohol.

This, addicts and alcoholics should realize. It takes time but one can break free from the clutches of drugs and alcohol. Liberty is far too dear to compromise as long as one lives. This, drug and alcohol addicts may now realize and must seek to attain.
