Stop Smoking Weed: Making It A Reality

Tags: , , ,

Smoking weed has become so prevalent that it has become a culture. You may be one of those who have been smoking weed but have reached the point of coming to your senses. By now, you may have realized that smoking weed is destructive in a sense that it will lead you nowhere but ill health and a poor quality of life.

But like most weed smokers, there may be one thing which keeps you from totally leaving your damaging habit behind- your peers, or specifically your friends whom you smoke weed with. Such an impediment in your intention to stop smoking weed is called peer pressure. It is indeed “pressure” and it can be a compelling force at that.

Oftentimes, you may find it unwelcome to leave your comfort zone and it may seem simply more convenient to pull yourself along with what your friends do- even if it’s smoking weed. When smoking weed has become your peer’s habitual means of bonding, it may be difficult for you to step out and do as your good sense so dictates.

After all, standing alone and being different, as much as it may be principled, can be an unpleasant experience. But is it really necessary that you go with the herd- skewed as it may seem? The problem with constantly being in the company of people smoking weed is that it is always easy to talk yourself out of wanting to quit.

They are all in the habit of smoking weed and may not have the intent nor the will to stop. But on the other hand if you do, it may be time for you to finally muster the resolve to stop smoking weed and make it a reality. The first thing you need to do is to make a gradual change of people you keep company with.

This means starting to getting to know and hanging out with people who are don't smoke weed. You become who your friends are, so if you go along with people who do better things other than smoking weed, chances are you will inculcate the same habits. It is not recommended though that you take a “high-almighty” approach in dealing with your old friends telling them that you no longer want to be with them as they are not good for you.

This might only work against you and you will end up not having friends at all. Just be gradual and gentle and make your smoking friends realize that you now have a change of interest and that smoking weed is no longer one of them. For instance, instead of making excuses about why you can no longer spend time with them smoking weed, make actual plans with your new friends at the same time that your old friends would ask you.

When spending time with your friends who are always smoking weed, make it a point to leave early. You can also suggest some activities to your old friends to do - activities that they may or may not be interested in doing- as this will show them that your interest has shifted from smoking weed.

Nothing will ever change unless you make it happen, and this goes with quitting smoking weed and being off to a better quality of life.
