Gaining Fitness And Serenity With Tai Chi

If one is intent on achieving a state of overall health and well-being, there are basically countless options to choose from for a regular exercise regimen. By keeping oneself updated through fitness magazines and the internet, one may actually be surprised of the wide assortment of fitness regimen that are available and they might even be astonished as there are exercises that can deliver holistic benefits yet with minimal efforts.

One of them is Tai Chi or Tai Chi Ch’uan. Tai Chi has gained a better popularity in the last 20 years being known as a fitness exercise, but this fitness regimen actually developed in the 12th century with similar styles and techniques devised by the legendary Zhang Sanfeng. There are 5 different branches of tai chi and they are associated with the five ancient families that played a significant role in the formation of tai chi as we know it today.

One can enjoy this fitness practice with ease as it does not require specific clothing, only loose clothes and sneakers to help in improving balance.

There is certainly not much pressure when carrying out tai chi as one is encouraged to feel the moment while executing slow movements. These smooth, intricate movements enhance breath control and is a form of meditation to attain attunement between mind, body and spirit. As much as this exercise practice seems effortless, it promotes balance and harmony as well as deliver health and fitness benefits.

When advancing further into tai chi methods, individuals may find that this exercise method teaches self- defense as a form of martial arts and with the handling of traditional weapons.
