The symptom can also manifest for those who have ear infections known as Otitis Media. In Otitis Media, the Eustachian tube becomes inflamed and swollen. Bacterial and viral infections in the ear can cause an accumulation of fluid like pus and mucus behind the ear drum, and this can lead to pain. There is a disruption in the drainage of fluid within the ear due to the inflammation of the Eustachian tube which is why a person is bound to experience pain in the ears. When such infections are neglected and treated, it is all the more that the inflammation and the ear pain becomes worse.

Swimmer’s ear is one of the main causes of , so upon the onset of the condition, medical treatment should be sought. So it is with inflammation or injury to the pinna or the outer visible portion of the ear. When you think your child is suffering from ear pain, be sure to look out for symptoms like scratching or pulling of the ears. This is usually accompanied by crying and irritability. Other than those, your child may also be vomiting, has fever, hearing difficulty and ear drainage. In adolescents and adults on the other hand, they should be keen on observing ear pain symptoms in themselves such as nausea and vomiting, fever, a feeling of fullness and blockage in the ears, ear drainage and dizziness other than ear pain.

Antibiotics and pain relievers are usually prescribed for ear pain. But as viral and bacterial infections are said to be the main causes of ear pain, natural measures such as good personal hygiene can ward off those infections.
