Giving An Ear To Ear Pain And Its Remedies

Tags: , , ,

At some point, you may have experienced an ear pain. There are many possible causes as to why a person can suffer from ear pain, that’s why quite a lot are prone to them. An ear pain is not a medical condition in itself, but it is rather a symptom or a manifestation of another underlying condition which has to do with the ears, like an infection or an injury.

There are those who believe that the symptom develops due to a blockage in the Eustachian tube. In some respects, it is true, but there is actually more to it. So what really are the causes of ear pain? For one thing, there are disorders and infections of the Eustachian tube.

And then there is also otitis externa which is an infection of the outer ear. Otitis externa is otherwise known as swimmer’s ear. Then there are other conditions like otitis media and Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. The same can be said with cases of Barotitis and relapsing polychondritis. Trauma to the ears as well is sure to cause one to suffer from pain.

Certain conditions within the ear, such as those which affects the pinna which is the outer visible ear and the ear canal can result in one experiencing ear pain. The symptom can also manifest for those who have ear infections known as Otitis Media. In Otitis Media, the Eustachian tube becomes inflamed and swollen.

Bacterial and viral infections in the ear can cause an accumulation of fluid like pus and mucus behind the ear drum, and this can lead to pain. There is a disruption in the drainage of fluid within the ear due to the inflammation of the Eustachian tube which is why a person is bound to experience pain in the ears.

When such infections are neglected and treated, it is all the more that the inflammation and the ear pain becomes worse. Swimmer’s ear is one of the main causes of ear pain, so upon the onset of the condition, medical treatment should be sought. So it is with inflammation or injury to the pinna or the outer visible portion of the ear.

When you think your child is suffering from ear pain, be sure to look out for symptoms like scratching or pulling of the ears. This is usually accompanied by crying and irritability. Other than those, your child may also be vomiting, has fever, hearing difficulty and ear drainage. In adolescents and adults on the other hand, they should be keen on observing ear pain symptoms in themselves such as nausea and vomiting, fever, a feeling of fullness and blockage in the ears, ear drainage and dizziness other than ear pain.

Antibiotics and pain relievers are usually prescribed for ear pain. But as viral and bacterial infections are said to be the main causes of ear pain, natural measures such as good personal hygiene can ward off those infections. Dietary supplements such as colloidal gold and colloidal silver can also aid in preventing ear pain.

Such colloidal products can aid in warding off ear pain as they are known for their properties of boosting the immune system as well as eliminating bacteria and viruses.
