Up Close With Heart Disease

Tags: , , ,

Consider this – 7% of the world’s population is directly affected by the very common heart disease. 7% which if translated into actual numbers will paint a very grim picture, triple that to the indirectly-affected in families and friends of these heart disease sufferers, a really bad picture. Marked by extreme factors – hardening of the arteries or weakening of the heart muscles, heart disease spares no one.

Not even gender, age, race or economic status in life. Heart disease hits even the best of us – athletes, those who appear physically fit, the rich and the infamous, those in the prime years of their life or the others beyond the golden years. The disease has a name in deadly Arteriosclerosis, the culprit in heart attacks and Cardiomyopathy, this is the one to blame for those with a weakened and damaged heart.

Yet heart disease is also seen in cases where a throat infection is left unmanaged and untreated. Pretty far-fetched but yes, a “mere” throat infection is not so innocent at all. What then are the warning signs and symptoms of heart disease? Like most warning bells, pain is the greatest signal in heart disease albeit in most times only a slight one, that bit of significant pressure on the chest.

Other chest pains are more pronounced though. Heart disease pains are also associated in those felt in the other parts of the body such as the arms, shoulder or legs. It becomes a double concern when said pains are felt in a considerable period of time even with the prescribed heart medicine.

In this regard, it is essential then to manage the pain felt by seeking medical advice, working on needed laboratory tests and taking that all important move to have a full check-up. Heart disease in effect has become a very common disease because of the number of recorded patients that continues to grow significantly.

Even the ‘simple’ symptom in cold sweat felt should indeed merit a doctor’s visit with such occurrences also addressed and discussed in heart disease drive and advocacy. The disease brings with it a lot of side concerns passed off as symptoms as well. For instance, nausea, poor digestion and difficulty of breathing are valid heart concerns.

However and whichever it is, the best way to cope with heart disease is get medical help and intervention at the earliest possible time. While “7” is usually a lucky number, the 7% figure in heart disease affectation is one unlucky matter. As such it is important to note that this can be avoided with proper diet, a healthier lifestyle and regular medical check-up.

At the slightest of signs, seek medical advice. At the slightest of symptoms, move towards treatment and proper management of your heart. And know your body’s limits. In coping with the clear threats of this disease, essential is to have the right handling otherwise the 7% adds up and the world’s common disease in heart disease will claim yet another victim.

It can stop with you or at least, try to.
