Healing With Chinese Medicine

Tags: , , ,

Medicine is undoubtedly a very basic necessity in our existence. It is derived from the Latin words ars medicina meaning “the art of healing”. Medicine was revolutionized in the 18th century, an era that saw actual cures developed for certain endemic infectious diseases. It was not until the 20th century that the application of the scientific method to medical research began to produce multiple important developments in medicine, with great advances in pharmacology and surgery Chinese medicine for its part was developed a large body of traditional medicine.

Much of the philosophy of it derived from empirical observations of disease and illness by Taoist physicians that reflected classical Chinese belief that individual human experiences express causative principles effective in the environment at all scales. These causative principles, whether material, essential, or mystical, correlate as the expression of the natural order of the universe.

In contrast to Chinese medicine is the evidence-based medicine, the application of modern scientific method to ask and answer clinical questions that had great impact on practice of medicine throughout the world of modern medicine. Modern medicine unlike Chinese medicine has proven to be uniquely effective and widespread compared with all other medical forms, but has fallen far short of what once seemed a realistic goal of conquering all disease and bringing health to even the poorest of nations.

It is notably secular and material, relatively indifferent to ideas of the supernatural or the spirit, and primarily focused on the body to determine causes and cures. Records would show how China has a rich and respected medical culture, reason why it was one of early nations to seriously invest on medicine.

While Chinese medicine runs significantly opposite from Modern medicine, its history and years of experience has given them immense knowledge in medical science, the methods employed, treatments and disease management. Chinese medicine is guided by the belief that the human body is part of several interrelated systems that eventually complete the circle under the two energies and forces.

Believers of Chinese medicine trust on the highest energy energy that goes through several links inside the body. Any blocks in the links correspondingly causes what become an ailment or disease. Traditional Chinese medicine uses herbs and comes up with concoctions that maximizes the medicinal values of extensive kinds of herbs processed.

And as today's Modern Medicine just embraced the essentials of healthy living, the holistic approach of Chinese medicine focuses on consistent exercise and wholesome diet. What is distinct with traditional Chinese medicine is that while Western medicine treats the body according to parts afflicted and affected by the disease or ailment, the Chinese way gets deeper into the medical problem and looks at the function or so called mal-fuctioni as a whole.

Thus, treatment is is not in parts but in whole. Modern Medicine considers Chinese medicine as the alternative medicine. But as studies showed, in mainland China, "this treatment is still considered to be an integral part of the health care system." "Modern treatments that rely on Chinese medicine include acupuncture, acutouch, herbal medicine and food therapy ," advocates shared.
