Life does get the better of us at times. Just when I was on the brink of giving up, my searching lead me to Eastern Spiritual Practices. Having been introduced to such ways of thinking opened new doors for me. I have been acquainted with the Western views of suffering. From these viewpoints, I gained knowledge as well of how they are to be resolved. But the more I delved, the more confused I became, so it seemed. In my desperate effort to gain balance and a better perspective in life, I took interest in “Samantha” which is a mindfulness practice.

We go through constant and varied experiences throughout our lives. At times, we may get so distressed because of instances which may have caused us pain or sadness. But there are happy moments in the same manner. How do we take these experiences? If we are keen enough, we can learn to look inward, or look deeper. Take time to think things through, or to feel things through. When we do, we can perhaps come to a few or many realizations. And these realizations can make us bitter or else bring growth and better awareness. These we gain in moments of reflection.

Think of Albert Einstein, Eleanor Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. What do they have in common? The most basic you can perhaps recall is that these people have achieved much – they rendered much for the upliftment of humanity. According to Abraham Maslow’s standards, these three are among the handful who have self-actualized. And what is the state called self actualization? Maslow was a renowned psychologist who devised the “Hierarchy of Needs”. He stated that it is inherent for all of us to be driven to fulfill our highest potentials. Achieving this state- fulfilling our highest potentials- is a person’s ultimate goal in life.

It can be disheartening when in the realm of the physical, friends and loved ones disappoint us. At times we may feel alone and deserted to the point that everything may seem hopeless. Instances such as these can happen to anybody. But for someone who ardently seeks and hopes, “something” offers help. It may not be in the guise of a person or a friend, but a warm and loving presence. One which comforts and soothes, one which guides. At some points you may have a similar experience. If you happen to have a sensitive soul, you can feel this presence- an entity perhaps.

Many people are aware of the benefits of meditation, so they seek to know the practice. Living has become stressful for so many, and they are looking for means to cope. Stress and anxiety can be so compelling to the point that it can drive a person out of their senses. Many people seek to find their center, or to gain balance. To be able to cope with stress, and not to be swayed by it or to “fall”. One of the ways for a person to find his center and gain inner balance is through meditation. Meditation as a mind and spiritual practice has withstood the ages.

Many people like to be in the company of other people. Whether it be their partner, their friends, colleagues or even strangers. There are people who would just want to hear the noise of daily living- the hustle and bustle, the hurrying and harrying. Are you one of these people? Perhaps you have been so busy listening to what the news say, or what your boss’ orders are, or what your partner says that you have eventually failed to listen to yourself. The noise of the outside world has made you lose touch with what you truly want or need.

Learn To Meditate- Think On The Eternal
Stress is a normal part of living - some people can cope with it, others are driven out of their wits because of it. As stressful circumstances are bound to beset everybody, it has to be dealt with. But how- how is it to be able to manage living a productive, happy life despite trying situations? Or in the first place, you might be asking if this is ever possible at all. Well, it certainly is, and it is dependent on that one crucial thing- your attitude. Attitude is generally understood as the way a person thinks. How you THINK. And thinking primarily has to do with your mind.

Peace Of Mind And Inner Calmness
Peace of mind and inner calmness - don’t these words sound so sweet? Aren’t they what everybody longs for, and the ultimate goal that everybody wants to achieve? It has been said that everything else becomes futile when one doesn’t have peace of mind. Most people say that what they want to have are money and recognition. It all seems so appealing and tempting to want worldly fame and possessions. How about you- what is it that you really want? Sure you may say that you want to be rich and famous, like what almost everybody says. But is it what you really want and is it your ultimate goal? Think for a while what would happen if you have much money and yet you don’t have peace of mind.

Intuition: Listening To Your Inner Knowing
It is said that all you will ever need to know is inside you. You have that inner knowing and inner truth which serve as answers. All it needs is for you to really look, and see, and to listen. What is that still, small voice inside you? It is called your intuition, and it needs to be heed. Your intuition doesn’t shout and berate you on the choices you make concerning life nor your free will. You yourself must seek to hear its prodding. Intuition waits for you to listen to it. With your intuition, you will be connected to a larger truth - you will see the bigger picture.

The Spiritual Nature And Spirituality
Spirituality can mean different things to different people. Others find it vague to define such a concept, or state. Oftentimes, spirituality is connoted with religion. Throughout human history, there has been a thin line between the two. To this day, it remains to be even blurred. The term in its truest sense is a broad one. Spirituality is sometimes related with the supernatural. “Things that go bump in the night”, as other people may regard so. The great Spiritualists of the past talked with the dead, and through various techniques at that. This is otherwise known as Spiritualism, and it is often yet associated with spirituality.
