 To the conventional, the term new age may seem unfamiliar. One can even derive that it entails a new concept. But new age is a relatively new term which encompasses a broad range of culture and philosophy, mostly those which are associated with ancient wisdom. When one says new age, it generally refers to a kind of mindset, a spiritual mindset which embraces the idea of infinite possibilities.
When one has inculcated new age spirituality, they remain conscious and aware of things seen and unseen. In fact, they delve deeper into them, they explore every dimension, every facet of the tangible and the intangible. With the new age spirituality, one takes to heart that the human heart, mind and spirit are boundless and that a human being, although within the limits of the physical is one with the universe.

That is the essence of new age spirituality – cosmic oneness and consciousness. The new age philosophy is primarily concerned with the human being in its cosmic context and relationship. Those who are off on the path of new age spirituality are all in the search for that one truth which they so ardently desire- their own.
By this personal truth, it means spiritual enlightenment which they have attained through their own undertakings. And these individual truths all form together as one to uplift the plight of humanity. The new age philosophy is not bounded by social, cultural or religious laws. Rather, new age thinking is inculcating the spiritual mindset of heeding what lies within the heart of every human being- the truth of the light.
Those who tread the new age path believe in the noble purpose of attaining the Higher Self and listening to its wisdom. They see the sacred in the mundane and they seek to rise above the mundane, breaking free from the chains of one sighted conventionalism. They search deeper into obscure and esoteric topics such as the paranormal, to natural healing, UFO sightings and religious belief.
New age is a revitalized, new way of thinking. It is a need and desire to explore the seen and unseen from a different perspective. It is a divergent path of understanding from what mainstream conventionalism has taught. Along with the need and desire to see what lies beyond such esoteric topics is the yearning to further the understanding of the world that is seen along with its unseen dimension.
What remains to be most vital to the new age path is seeking spiritual enlightenment and attaining it. Spiritual enlightenment is the multi-faceted jewel that is the ultimate result of all new age explorations. This state of bliss is the end result of journeys taken in different paths of new age spirituality.
Upon rising to a higher plane of knowing, one then is led to an inner knowledge of one’s true essence and their relationship with the cosmos. When one practices meditation, aromatherapy or healing with gem stones as well as chakra cleansing, they are becoming consciously and unconsciously aware of their relationship with the universe through the understanding of cosmic energy.
Many paths unfold before the seeker, but the journey is one. And the destination remains to be the ultimate victory of the human spirituality.
