Holiday Stress And The Reality Of The Holidays

Tags: , ,

Everybody seems to be looking forward to the holidays. After all, isn’t the holidays a time for family get togethers, parties and fun? Food, festivities and laughter. Catching up with friends and of course, having a break. Well, that’s one way of looking at the end of the year and the beginning of a new one. It’s basically a time for celebrating. But then again, that’s not what the holidays is all about. Fun for the holidays goes with . What is holiday stress exactly. Virtually everybody experiences holiday stress, even children. The atmosphere is splendid during the holidays.

Bright and colorful lights are everywhere. Sweet music fills the air. And colorful gifts of all shapes and sizes abound. Gifts are especially attractive to children. But believe it or not, they can give holiday stress to the young ones. It can cause stress to children to see lots of gifts under the tree and yet they cannot open them. And the idea of Santa. It can bring about holiday stress. Why so? Well, children could be wondering if he really exists. Him flying along with his reindeers. And if his home in the north pole really exists. All the beautiful trees and decorations can cause frustration to very young children.

They look so wonderful but children cannot touch them. Such are the untold stories of holiday stress. And it is among children at that. And for grown ups. Stress can even be worse during the holidays. Grown ups have to live with common everyday stress and at the same time. So much for a bang at the end of the year. As the holidays approach, holiday stress begins to build up. Working grown ups have to get ahead as they know they’ll be taking a break- even just for one day. Money issues, too. They can be the primary cause of holiday stress.

Almost everybody charges on credit. There is more to buy during the holidays. When one charges on credit, it can lead to intense debt. Credit companies raise the minimum payment from 2% to 4% of the balance at the first of the year. This can bring about holiday stress. Why wouldn’t it as the current minimum payment will be far higher in the next year. Those staying on a tight cash budget can experience holiday stress. This can be due to the fact that they can’t get everyone what they really want, especially children. Parents almost always want to give what their children want for the holidays.

Or what they’ve asked Santa. If what children ask for are expensive, this can obviously bring holiday stress to the parents. Everybody is prone to suffer from holiday stress. Everybody is expected to be happy and to be good during the holidays. This expectation can be dreadful to some. Having to forgive enemies and be cordial to relatives they don’t like. In fact, during the holidays, most people are compelled to keep up a front. That’s a frustrating holiday stress especially when one has yet to many issues to face. Tis’ the season to be jolly during the holidays. You have to feel jolly even when you don’t feel like it.

That’s dreadful and that’s to beat.
