Tags: , , ,

Health experts never fail to advocate the significance of Vitamin C. Widespread propaganda though advertisements and health campaigns make this evident. Such advocacy is also prevalent even in supermarkets. After all, don’t you see almost every product citing in their labels that they are fortified with Vitamin C? The scenario may seem all too common, but are you really aware of the real score behind it? We hear Vitamin C mentioned all too often.

They say it is found in fruits and that we should have ample intake of those fruits. The same can be said with its supplement form. Health experts assert that our diet should be augmented by it. Why all the hullabaloo about Vitamin C? Well, primarily, it is essential for a boosted immune system.

The said Vitamin is the foremost fortifier of our body’s defense system and that is crucial. To ward off ill health and for the body to sustain its energy to function properly, it defense army has to be well- equipped. And this, Vitamin C primarily does. With sufficient intake of the vitamin, there is an increased number of white blood cells, the body’s immune system army.

Vitamin C trains this army to fight better and help them form a better overall health plan. Approximately 2000 milligrams of the vitamin is recommended for intake daily, and it can be had with six servings of fruits a day. Guava, papaya, strawberries, kiwi and orange are good sources of Vitamin C.

The same can be said with cantaloupe and grapefruit. Increased intake of the nutrient will aid in sufficient production of white blood cells which can help fight infections. This inexpensive vitamin will also reduce your chances of suffering from cardiovascular diseases by raising your LDL levels. LDL is known as the body’s good cholesterol.

Researches have also indicated that high intake of Vitamin C lowers the risks of a person from developing breast cancer as well as colon and prostate cancer. Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin, and by this, it means that your body needs it daily. With adequate nourishment of the vitamin, you are bound to enjoy the health and beauty reward of glowing skin.

Vitamin C acts as an anti-aging agent as well, making your skin wrinkle free. Other than that, it also protects your skin from harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. This vitamin is the best nourishment for dull-looking skin. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant which helps in slowing down cell degeneration.

It boosts the proper functioning of your organs, too. Vitamin C can also be the solution for bleeding gums. Orange is said to be a great source of the Vitamin C, and a daily consumption of it is recommended. It is better to eat an orange daily than to obtain the vitamin from a glass of orange juice.

Rather than taking the nutrient in tablet or capsule form, it is recommended that you’d rather nourish yourself with Vitamin C with fruits and vegetables. Those food sources contain Vitamin C in its natural form and are more potent than taking supplement pills or capsules.
