The Road To Weight Loss For Obese People

2007-08-23Although most people say that happiness is a state of mind and a matter of perception, it can be a fact that happiness can be measured through physical means as well. True, there may be individuals who are happy despite how meager their resources may be or how plain their physical appearance is, but at times, what an individual apparently has can contribute to their sense of fulfillment.

It may cause so much dispute to say that one’s physical appearance has so much to do with their happiness, but oftentimes it can be true. Those who are physically attractive may have the tendency to enjoy more fulfillment owing to the high regard which society renders them. Take the case of finding a job.

Is there not a tendency for the management to hire attractive and slim applicants rather than obese people? Ours is a beauty oriented society in which obese people often suffer from ridicule and discrimination. Such can cause a great deal of frustration and even distress for obese people. There may be a select few obese people who are happy with their plight, but in most cases, obese people suffer from discontent and unhappiness brought about by low self-esteem.

Some obese people may say that they are happy, but they can be masking their unhappiness with self-denial. It may be understandable as there are many reasons to cite why an individual would say they are happy when really they are not. But for obese people living in a state of denial, the more they mask their unhappiness, the worse it can become.



If obese people can face up to the reality that they are not contented with their weight or how they look, then there is more likelihood for them to take measures to improve their situation. Just as what they say with alcoholics – they are more likely to seek help once they affirm that they have a problem.

Other than cosmetic issues, obese people have to take into consideration that they are put to significant health risks due to their condition. The health sector has constantly been alarmed and advocated that obese people should take means to lose weight as they are put in the peril of a shortened life span.

Obese people have remarkably increased chances of dying from heart attack and stroke and there are countless other conditions by which obese people can suffer from which can result in them leading a poor quality of life. Obesity is the foremost antithesis to overall health and well-being and this, obese people must take into consideration.

For those suffering from obesity, there are countless measures through which obesity can be done away with. There are varied diet plans, fitness regimen, pharmaceutical and natural medications, books, DVD’s and online resources which can provide information for obese people on how to lose weight. It takes conscious will, but if obese people acknowledge and take the initiative to courageously take the challenge of weight loss, then positive results can happen.

Well-being and a good quality of life are not to be compromised, and the foremost means to enjoy them is by being fit and healthy.
