Tags: , , ,

Approximately half of all women experience breast pain at one point or another. In most cases, women would see a doctor pertaining to this. But it must be noted that fewer than five percent of women with breast pain are actually diagnosed with breast cancer. But nevertheless, when a woman has breast pain, she has to see the doctor anyway to rule our breast cancer.

But even when a woman has an all clear about her breasts from her doctor, there is yet a garden variety of breast pain to contend with. Breast pain is after all a discomfort. When a woman has breast pain, there are several ways to alleviate it. But what are the possible causes of breast pain? The most common sort of breast pain is cyclical breast pain.

This is primarily caused by a woman’s menstrual cycle. Two thirds of all women experience cyclical breast pain. The following tips may be helpful to keep the pain from coming back. First, there is breast massage. How is this done? First, the fingers are spread all throughout the breast and the nipples are in the palm.

Then the fingers are squeezed and then released as the circumference of the breasts are massage. Daily doing this breast massage can help ease breast pain. This massage aids in a better blood circulation within the breasts. Stress should also be managed to relieve the pain. Stress can actually aggravate painful breasts.

During stressful conditions, the body becomes more sensitive to normal hormonal changes. Stress management is then essential. It must be incorporated into a daily health regimen. Stress relief measures may include listening to music, or learning a relaxation technique such as biofeedback. Fat intake should also be reduced. A diet of chips and cheeseburgers may satisfy the taste buds, but the breasts may not be able to bear the brunt of a diet high in fat.

The breasts then may become painful. Conversely, reduced fat intake can ease painful breasts. Women who have had severe breast pain due to their monthly cycle can have their discomfort eased by reducing their dietary fat intake. Their breasts becomes less tender, less lumpy and swollen. Caffeine intake should also be limited, or better yet eliminated to alleviate breast pain.

Coffee, cola, tea and chocolate are best avoided as they have high caffeine content. Wearing a bra to bed can also help lessen cyclical breast pain. A support bra worn at night is recommended. Running bras would also work well. Common sense is required when wearing a bedtime bra. A woman should opt to look for support rather than sex appeal.

As cyclical breast pain is associated with fluid retention, it is best to cut back on sodium intake. A week before the monthly period, sodium intake must be limited. That way, the breasts would less likely to be painful when the monthly period occurs. Over the counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can also relieve breast pain.

Ibufprofen would be much suited for this. However, some OTC medications, including those for menstrual pain may contain caffeine.
