What Contributes To Muscle Pain

Tags: , , ,

Ever wonder why you sometimes have muscle pain? It can happen quite often and you can well attest to that. It can be that you’ve spent so many hours on paperwork in the office after which you experience back muscle pain. Muscle pain can also affect any muscle in the body like after strenuous exercise or an injury.

There are many possible reasons why an individual can have muscle pain, but before any further discussions on it, we may as well talk about the foremost element involved in muscle pain- the muscles. The muscles are components which give shape to the body. The muscles are made up of elastic fibers that allow them to contract and relax, and this muscle contraction in turn aid in the movement of various body parts.

Soft tissues and specialized cells called ligaments, tendons and fascia hold muscles to other muscles as well as to the bones and various body organs. When there is too much exertion which the body cannot withstand, the muscles become over-worked and get tired until they eventually tear and wear out.

It is then that the gradually “shocked” muscles release pain, and there is bound to be an onset of muscle pain. The pain can involve merely one muscle or a set of muscles. Muscle pain can also be instigated by affected or torn ligaments, tendons or fascia. Other than that, there are several other reasons which can lead to the onset of the condition.

They can range from ordinary strain, stress and tension from physical work or exercise to major injuries. Much more so with muscle diseases. When one has contracted an infection, it is more likely that they will suffer from muscle pain. Such an instance can occur when the infected area extends to the surrounding muscular connective tissues, bones and organs.

Under such circumstance, pains and aches can generate accompanied by fatigue and sleeplessness. Take the case of a minor influenza. It is capable of affecting the entire body, making it ache. Another common cause of muscle pain is a condition known as fibromylagia. Pain arises from this condition wherein the affected muscles and tissues become tender.

There are also conditions identified as Myofacial Pain Syndrome or MPS which lead to the onset of muscle pain as it is known to affect the connective tissues, especially the fascia. Muscle pain can also result when unused muscles are put to use, such as in the cases of the elderly.

Elderly people are more apt to complain of body aches due to inconsistent muscle use. In most cases, seeking medical help gives immediate relief to muscle pain. But the as the cliché goes and still proves true, prevention is better than cure. An effective preventive measure for muscle pain is to constantly use the muscles.

Keeping the muscles toned and in shape through regular and stretching exercises is also one of the best means to do away with the condition. The same can be said with proper nutrition. Often, the case is that basic preventive measures can spare one from the dilemma of muscle pain, so it is best that one remains aware of them.
