Too Much Pain Killers Can Kill

Tags: , , ,

Anything in life is best if taken in moderation. Intake of pain killers particularly included. This, as research and extensive studies showed that men in particular exposed to pain killers and pain relievers on a regular basis face potential risks of elevated blood pressure. Studies in the United States further back this information that identified pain killers such as Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen could be trigger-factors of high blood pressure.

Acetaminophens and Ibuprofens are over-the-counter medicines and are among the most commonly taken pain relievers and pain medications. From all kinds of body aches and body pains, headaches and common coughs and colds, pain killers are the immediate medication chosen reason why it has disturbed the medical community when a link was made on the risk it poses to high blood pressure in women and the link as well with men.

One specific case is the recent study of Boston’s Harvard Medical School where risk of high blood pressure was higher in the case study made involving the men when pain killers were prescribed. Established were health implications because blood pressure poses an important issue for both sexes if left unmanaged.

The fact that pain killers are so available and so commonly prescribed, it is essential that the possible ill-effects and clear side effects be known to the community. Acetaminophen for instance can cause blood pressure to rise in 34% of men who are on it regularly. Aspirin on the other hand has the risk at 26%, while Ibuprofen is at 38%.

Research showed that these “regular” drugs cum pain killers can block the effects of chemicals that cause blood vessels to relax. This in turn decreases blood pressure so if taken on its whole perspective, these pain killers cause higher blood pressure. Aggravating the concern is the fact that aspirin is even prescribed to men who have heart problems.

At any rate, it is important that the word of caution is out there – pain killers taken regularly have potential ill-effects. Pain killers taken on moderation will deliver the desired effect – pain relief. The fact that most of it are made available over-the-counter should not be misconstrued as source of absolute relief.

It is not a case similar to the effect of vitamins and other supplements. Pain killers are not supplements. These are pain relievers. If there is no pain or if the pain is bearable, stay away from it. Resort only to said pain medication as last remedy. Most pains will go away even without pain killers.

Here exercise helps like walking or jogging as in the case of slight headaches and discomfort brought by colds. Body pains may be alleviated with other alternative remedies like a massage. In other words, take it only when most needed. Remember, anything in life is best if taken in moderation.

Intake of pain killers particularly included. Manage your pain better for a healthier you with a healthier heart and normal blood pressure. Pain killers as pain relievers if taken regularly and beyond moderation will ultimately spell more pain.
