Alternative Pain Relief Therapies

Tags: , , ,

Everybody is beset by pain at some points, and it certainly is an unpleasant experience. The initial tendency when this happens is to take pharmaceutical pain relievers, or otherwise go to a doctor. And the doctor, by all means, would prescribe the same or other pharmaceuticals. This is an all too common measure.

But there are those who take the other way- without the use of pharmaceuticals. This is primarily through alternative therapies. Debate had been ongoing as to whether alternative therapies are effective. There are those who oppose, asserting that alternative treatments are not potent at all and may even be downright ineffective.

But then again, there are those who argue that not only are alternative treatments effective, but are also safer. It is a matter of personal choice in this respect, as one has the prerogative when it comes to their well-being. On the subject of pain and alternative therapies, there are alternative pain relief measures.

Alternative pain relief therapies are often direct and simple. For instance, a non-conventional relief for headache. Rather than taking ibufprofen, an alternative option would be to take herbal tea. It has been believed that numerous headaches are brought about be dehydration. Drinking water may help, but drinking herbal tea can have better relief results.

Herbal tea can aid in alleviating muscle pain as well, owing to its warmth-giving properties. Then there is almond oil which can help to deal with skin discomforts. Almond oil is used as an emollient, and would be helpful for skin care. Almond oil can help relieve skin irritation, itching and inflammation.

The potent emollient properties of almond oil help smoothen and soften the skin. They can aid as well in balancing the skin’s loss and absorption of moisture. In the medical field, almond oil is used to treat dermatitis. Vinegar is also an option for alternative relief. Vinegar is known to be an antiseptic of sorts.

Applying vinegar on a cut or a small burn can ease the pain. Vinegar has many uses, among others, and another of them is being an organic housecleaning solution. Other alternative pain relief therapies have been centuries old, such as acupuncture. One can resort to acupuncture for ailments in certain parts of the body.

Acupuncture is almost often done by a master. Needles are generally used and applied on to affected areas for treatment. The principle behind acupuncture is that the needles are capable of easing body pain. All these and more are the possible options for alternative pain relief. Such kinds of measures are becoming more and more popular.

Many have acknowledged and can attest to their efficacy, and they are gradually becoming main stream. They are in fact used to complement conventional treatments in some cases. It is termed as complementary medicine, and it is becoming widely used. Health care is more intensive in this sense as different principles are applied and yet they work together.

So for pain relief, there are varied options, and one has the choice of which they think would help them best, along with the guidance of a skilled medical professional.
