Understanding The “No Smoking Allowed” Signs

Tags: , ,

There was once a story about a group of smokers trying to make sense of a bumper sticker that read - Smoking facts read like fiction! Do not be counted. rules! After some analysis and attempts to decipher the message, it finally dawned on the group – “smoking facts read like fiction” is translated into deaths caused by smoking has reached that point of being unbelievable. “Do not be counted” is translated into the appeal to please stop smoking. And the last phrase says it all – No Smoking rules. Warnings signs are more direct as printed on cigarette packs: “Smoking is injurious to health,” while cigarettes distributed in some parts of Europe even have glaring pictures of the ill-effects of smoking.

A badly-affected lung with cancer no thanks to smoking, emphysema at its worst and aged-looking skin of smokers. The signs and signals are at its clearest. But then there is also that direct message and condition particularly in public places – No smoking here or No smoking allowed. If we consider a global picture, the statistics of deaths due to smoking looks like fantasy. Yet in reality, who will give up smoking on the basis of statistics? The grim truth is out there. And for most smokers, it is almost in desperation that they want to give up smoking, both from the health point of view and the financial point of view! In fact, the topmost New Year Resolutions, is to give up smoking! Sadly though, every year, for the last several years too.

Why is it so seemingly difficult to give up smoking? The simple answer – nicotine, an addictive component in cigarettes. Smoking is an addiction. Since tobacco smoke contains this poisonous element, a near-impossible addictive substance to give up, the smoker’s plight is one big struggle and battle. More than ever, the sign should be biggest here and no smoking effort hardest there. And there too are the innocent victims of smoking, the passive smokers or those exposed to second-hand smoke. As one advocate put it, the smokers are providing passive smokers free passports to the graves.. And it is indeed a pity that this white-color crime goes unpunished.

For instance a family with a parent or both as smokers. Chances are the children will follow at faster rate and younger year than both began to actually smoke regularly. Therefore, tendering any amount of statistics, whether 4,000,000 die every year in the USA or 14,000,000 (this is a hypothetical figure) all over the world due to smoking, the no smoking sign should be in every person’s heart and mind. The no smoking campaign is the silent war against the perils and clear and present danger of smoking. No smoking stance is equivalent to saying yes to life and healthy living.

No smoking campaign is equal to the fight for healthier life in a healthier body. is practically yes to living. For smokers who think of quitting but puts it off to another day, experts cannot be any clearer on their appeal - another cigarette is another minute lost to an otherwise healthy life.
