How Skin Care Products Can Harm You

Tags: , , ,

We all want to have beautiful skin. That’s why we take good care of it. We use skin care products to make it soft and smooth. We also take vitamins to make it healthy. Companies know this and that is why there are so many skin care products available in the market today.

You can see their ads everywhere. Everybody is claiming that theirs is the best. But before you get convinced, take a look at first of the ingredients used. There might be some harmful ingredients in them which might cause you a lot. Sometimes, the problem they can cause is difficult to cure and often times, entails a considerable amount of money.

Worst is, they can even be deadly! To avoid this, knowledge is your best weapon. Don’t be like other people who were victims of too-good-to-be-true ads. Always be on the look out. Find out what substances are not safe so that every time you shop, you can check out the ingredients and decide by yourself.

Substances like parabens, frangrances, alcohols and mineral oils are most commonly used. Beware when you find these as ingredients of the products you’re buying because they can be harmful too. Paraben is a kind of preservative used to make the life span of skin care products longer. It is widely used because of its proven efficacy and no harmful effects have been reported then.

Many said that it is safe to use. However, some recent scientific studies reported that this can cause cancer and skin allergies. This new report is not yet widely accepted and many are still claiming that paraben is safe. Either way, it is best for you as consumer to be on your guard always.

If you’re confused on which of the two views to believe, better avoid using products which have parabens to be sure. Fragrances can either be natural or synthetic. Usually those natural ones are safe and sometimes synthetic ones can give you allergies. Many fragrances that smell like natural fruits like strawberry, apple and grapefruit are sometimes synthetic.

Alcohols such as isopropyl, ethyl, ethanol, benzyl and methanol are known to cause dryness. Sometimes it causes inflammation. Skin dryness is prevalent when you reach middle age. So it is advisable that you avoid them because they further irritate it. Mineral oil seems natural and healthy, but Watch out because frequent use can clog your pores and can even cause acne.

In addition, it makes it difficult for your skin to freely produce natural oil and get rid of toxins from your body. These are just some of the harmful chemicals that can be found in many skin care products and there are so much more out there. Some of the harmful effects of the substances used in skin care products may be mild.

However, no matter how mild if they complicate with other problems and cause other severe disease, they could be deadly. So don’t let this happen to you. Enrich your knowledge of harmful substances found in skin care products and avoid using them.
