Fact is, with age creeping up and the changes in environment that poses health hazards including damage to the skin, skin care more than ever has become imperative if not outright crucial to over-all healthy living. As skin experts say, skin care is best embraced as part and parcel of one’s daily routine in keeping the body fit.
With age comes bodily changes that meant the need to replenish essential nutrients lost in the process or skin ‘repairs’ with the use of skin care products and/or, adjustments in lifestyle and food intake. Regular skin care will not only help your skin recover from the daily stresses it is exposed to but provide the needed nourishment.
Studies show that with age comes lesser collagen and nutrients that are basic to what the skin needs to face up with the so called abuses to the skin. As we age we get pores. We get scars. We get wrinkles and it will happen even in the best of skin care.
All the more reason then to have a routine skin care work that will work for your current bodily needs brought by current bodily changes. Practical tips include the basics of avoiding the sun or if you have to be exposed, protect your self and your skin. Most harmful of the sun’s rays would be between 10am to 2pm.
Stop smoking. Other than the greater risks posed by the ills of smoking, know that this also greatly impair your skin condition. Smokers' skin looks dull and gray because instead of having oxy-generated blood delivered to the surface of the skin, smoking induces poisons and oxidants to the skin. Skin care should also include enough sleep and proper nutrition.
And while at it, avoid or handle well the daily stresses in life both emotional and environmental. Experts also advice to clean your face at least twice a day – in the morning and at night. Dirt, dust and dead skin cells do collect overnight and during the day. Do not neglect the elbows, heels, neck, and decolletage that need moisturizing just as your scalp and the tops of your feet could use regular skin care and sun protection.
Skin care then is the fuel that will help speed up and make possible the cure to damaged skin. Damaged skin on the other hand exposes us to infections, reason why proper and regular skin care is essential to a healthy body and healthy living. Beauty not skin-deep? Skin care too.
Essential for men and women. Children and adults. Because healthy living meant caring for the body. And the skin.
