The Waking Life And The Meaning Of Dreams

Dreams have always been the subject of much inquiry and fascination. Perhaps it is because a person dreaming, once awake, is aware that there must be some sort of message that needs to be discerned in their dream. Such is why many are off on the quest to search for . Dreams, after all, come from an individual’s subconscious, and the subconscious knows more than an individual’s conscious self. Locked within meaning of dreams can be messages from the subconscious which the conscious aspect resists. Such is why dreams are cloaked in symbols- so that the dream will not be simply rejected or avoided by the conscious self.

Often, most individuals try to decipher the meaning of dreams through its symbols with a dream dictionary. In a dream dictionary, there are guides to meaning of dreams with common symbols and archetypes. The fact, however, is that each individual has their own “dream dictionary”. It takes personal discernment to decipher the meaning of dreams through one’s own “dream dictionary”, and what seems more interesting is that this “dream dictionary can change over time. The subconscious can be boundless, and the message it sends can be shrouded with much mystery and ambiguity, which is why cracking the meaning of dreams may require intricate efforts.



But when one solves the mystery of the , even just one dream, it may seem like a hidden treasure has been discovered. The meaning of dreams can be a solution to a current problem, or it can be the subconscious’ means of balancing one’s emotional muddle. The meaning of dreams may even be giving a hint at some thoughts or emotions in progress without any final resolution yet in mind. There are those who even claim that the meaning of dreams has to do with foretelling the future. At times, but very rarely, though, dreams can be literal and they are apparently easy to understand.

In some instances, there may be nothing wrong whether the face value of a dream has meaning for an individual. Most often, however, the meaning of dreams is veiled in symbolism which points far beyond the literal. It may be interesting to know that primarily, the purpose of dreaming is to balance the psyche. Keeping this in mind can help one in a better understanding of the meaning of dreams and prevent them from getting off track in their interpretation. By recording their dreams in a dream journal, one will find over time that they gain a better understanding of the meaning of dreams in the future.

Dreams are like plays or movies that one creates every night, and in most cases, they have a similar structure. It can be helpful to take a more thorough look at these structures to have a better discernment of . Just like in plays and movies, one must be keen in analyzing the location, the characters and the plot of the dream and the emotions and representations attached to them which can be the key to a locked bemusement.
