Women, like men are also susceptible to diseases, but a woman should well know that certain diseases are more prevalent among women than men, and such is a major concern for womens health. The same can be said with osteoporosis, it affects both men and women, but women are more apt to get a better share. And gallstones- it is 4 times more likely to afflict women than men.

The same can be said with urinary tract infection and irritable bowel syndrome. Womens health in fact has a much wider scope other than taking measures for awareness, prevention and treatment of such diseases. Other than those, womens health also has to do with information and being vigilant on issues concerning smoking, cancer, diabetes, depression, stress, heart disease and alcoholism.

As much as men are, women are exposed to high stress conditions, too, and such can be a matter on womens health that needs to be taken into account. Stress is one of the most prevailing underlying culprit behind many threatening diseases, and women, by no doubt are vulnerable to it, especially emotional stress.

What women have to consider is that a womens health regimen is a lifelong commitment. It starts from the age of puberty when their reproductive functioning commences and from then on, a woman ought to be conscientious on health concerns. The measures for womens health? They include good eating habits and maintaining a healthy weight.

Womens health also involves limiting levels of stress, regular exercise and taking quality health supplements when appropriate. Essential to womens health as well is understanding and recognizing the leading causes of death among women and taking measures against them. It is important that women have access to knowledge and understanding on health issues pertaining to all aspects of a woman’s body.

Inherent to womens health should be a regimen wherein one maintains a good nutritional and exercise program. Other than keeping to a fitness scheme, womens health should also incorporate measures for keeping blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol levels under control. Studies have indicated that a significant reduction of 50% of risk for cancer is seen by following a diet containing low-fat and high fiber and limited red meat.

Promoting womens health also means that a woman has minimized intake of alcohol and cigarette smoking but engages in regular exercise to ward off the onset of cancer and threatening diseases. Much more so, indispensable to womens health is regular check-ups and visits to the doctor so that whatever disease can be called to a halt thereby protecting a woman’s health and well-being.
