My Story
I grew up in an average family in a small town. Things were pretty much
fine until my dad became an alcoholic. My mom worked as a fysio therapist.
Things had gone downhill since then, until my parents had a messy
divorce. My mom, left with my younger brother, while
my dad was sent to rehab.
I was left to the care of my aunt who had 4
children of her own. Although I was living with my aunt and her family,
it was almost like I was alone, because my aunt had her own kids. There
was really nobody to take care of me, and so I suffered, especially my
health. I developed an emotional eating problem wherein I binged and
binged.
Until I became obese and eventually became a diabetic- at 19.
My ill health caused me to become weak and lethargic and being obese, I
suffered from low self-esteem and eventually depression.
I was
put on so many pharmaceuticals because of my many conditions. But
nothing seemed to work. It was an endless taking of medicines here and
there but my health didn’t seem to improve.
Until one day, I
met a new woman in town. She was in her mid 30’s and a successful
doctor. I was 21 and obese, diabetic and depressed. I was also
bombarded with all sorts of pharmaceuticals. The woman and I became
almost like sisters. She taught me how to take care of my health and
myself.
She introduced to me a diabetic diet which eventually made my
health become better. After a few months, my health progressively
improved and I started doing away with pharmaceuticals. Amazingly my
blood sugar became normal plus I lost weight.
As a consequence, I
became more confident and at 23, life started picking up for me. I went
to the big city and had 2 jobs. After saving enough money, I went to
med school thinking that I wanted to be a doctor. It was in my
internship that I began to lose interest in the medical course.
One
thing that didn’t appeal to me was how pharmaceuticals controlled
everything, and yet they didn’t seem to offer much solution.
I
remember how I recovered from diabetes, obesity and depression in my
earlier years. It was naturally, and so I thought, why not focus on
natural health? So I decided instead to take up alternative health in a
good school. That’s when I realized that’s where my interest lies –
alternative health.
After 2 years, I finished alternative health
school and became a certified alternative health coach. At 30, I
started my practice and people just kept telling me how much they liked
my coaching approach. I was a beginning coach, but in a matter of 4
months I became popular.
News of how well my methods worked was spread
and reached the ears of a big publishing company, Publizine.com, Inc. They financed a site for me which became hugely successful. I had
to eventually write and publish articles and books because people wanted to know
more about my tips and advice.
Five more years of successful practice
and I’ve established a name in the alternative health coaching field.
At 42, things have never really gone downhill for me or my career. It’s
because I had the heart and the gift to help people.
