Many people have weight issues to deal with. Blame it on the obesity epidemic which is on the other hand caused by many factors. You probably know that genetics play a role in obesity. It means it can run in families. But if you have a weight problem, you simply can’t sit around and brood over it.

Sure you are overweight, but choose to do something about it. Lack of physical activity and bad eating habits are more often the causes of obesity. This basically has to do with lifestyle, and if this is your problem, choose to have a better one. I say “choose” because ultimately it comes to choice and will.

The real motivation to lose weight must come from you. If you've got the right amount of motivation, then it would be easier to get going on the road to weight loss and better health. To shed off excess pounds and flab, you primarily have to control your diet and exercise regularly.

For dieting, it doesn’t mean that you have to starve. Just make it a point that your diet is healthy. I for one don’t punish myself by deprivation. I lost 10 kgs. over a few weeks and one factor that caused it was because I ate healthily. I hardly eat junk foods, especially chips and soda.





I began to limit my trips to the fast food restaurant. What I did was eat on time and most often I have home-cooked meals. I didn’t want to make my dieting complicated, I simply stuck with what was right when it comes to eating. And now comes exercise which is very crucial in losing weight.

You’re probably considering the idea of getting into a weight loss program. But you’re wondering about what sort of exercise you should incorporate into your regimen. Try cardio exercises- they can give faster results. Cardio exercises would help you burn fat in a shorter period of time. But in choosing the right cardio workout, you have to determine your body type.

You also have to take into account the amount of weight that you want to lose. Choose a workout which would suit your body type and which you are comfortable with. You wouldn’t want exercise to feel like torture. It has to be something that you like doing. Your choice of a workout also depends on how fast you want results.

High intensity cardio exercises would normally bring faster results. Say for instance cardio dancing. That’s a high intensity and strong workout compared to brisk walking or jogging. If you want quicker results and are willing to put the energy for it, then go high intensity on your cardio exercises. It would take a bit of experimentation in the beginning till you find the right workout, but it’ll be worth it.

Eventually you’ll learn to love exercising and look forward to your next workout. I myself consider the 40 minutes of my workout session after work to be one of the best times of the day. Who would have thought because I used to be a couch potato. But now I feel great because I lost weight and I look better.

Exercising will also give that “high” which makes you feel happy and positive. So it’s inside out benefits if you get into a health and fitness routine. But you wouldn’t really know until you do it, right?
