And speaking of healthy
living, experts agree that
healthy living is synonymous
to healthy eating.
However, thanks to the
proliferation of fast foods,
junk foods, and convenience
foods, healthy living has
become more of an
exception rather than
the rule.
More so as our lifestyle
changes from slow to
fast paced and always
on the run.
Lack of time is a major
reason healthy eating has
been relegated to the back
burner.
Let's face it, fast food is
readily available and you
must admit, temptingly
cheap and filling.
While it does fill you up, fast
foods don't really give you
the nutrients that your body
needs in order to function
properly.
Too much of one thing will
develop into an overload
which our body cannot
handle.
And the fact that you don't
move as much anymore
doesn't help any.
SO what can you do to eat
healthy despite being on the
run and despite the temptations
that say otherwise?

Watch your portions
Specially if you're in a fast
food restaurant.
Do you really need to super-
size those fries?
I'm sure you get your money's
worth but you also get you're
money's worth of fat and
cholesterol build up.
Just stick with the regular
meal when ordering.
If you're not that hungry go
with the kids meal.
And try to add to your order.
You don't really need that
extra cheese or that extra
patty now do you?

Watch what you eat
In many restaurants, including
fast food ones, they are now
offering healthy choices.
Why not pick from that side
of the menu.
Steamed, poached, or baked
may not sound appetizing
but you just may be
surprised with how
good they taste.
Pass on the heavy extras such
as bread and butter, sodas,
and condiments such as
mayo.
Stick to water, or a side of
fruit instead.

And chicken isn't that
healthy
Not if its breaded and fried.
In fact it may have as much
if not more calories than a
regular burger.
Ok maybe not that high but
high enough that it defeats
the purpose of getting it.
Grilled is much better, and
not just for the chicken but
for everything else.

Snack healthy
If you must grab something
between you last meeting
and the next one that's like
10-minutes away don't make
it junk food.
The vending machine may
be a very tempting alternative
but it's not the best one.
Why not keep some stuff in
your desk drawer or in your
car, or even in your bag.
Things like granola bars, dried
fruits such as apricots and
raisins, or a small bag of nuts
and trail mix.
The same is true when you're
running late for work.
Remember, breakfast is still
the most important meal of
the day.
If you don't have time then
a granola bar or a bag of
dried raisins should do the
trick.

As with everything else,
moderation is key.
I mean, what good will it do
you to eat grilled chicken
when you eat 4 at one time.
Kinda defeats the whole
healthy eating doesn't it.
But that's not to say you
can't splurge every now
and then.
You can, but not on a
daily basis. Once a month
or twice a month is ok.
Healthy eating is about eating
in moderation, preparing
balanced meals and eating
at the right time.
It's all about life changing
eating habits that's NOT
starvation or unnecessary
fasting.
