Mother Theressa said that
"One of the greatest disease
is to be a nobody to anybody."
A study by the MacArthur
Foundation have found that
high self-esteem helps in
one's health and longevity.
This means that compared
to someone who have
negativity written all over
them, someone who feels
good about themselves
and have a high self-worth
and positive attitude will
more likely live longer
and be much healthier.
Low self-esteem is dangerous
to both your mental and
physical health.
Low self-esteem can be
linked to nutritional disorders
such as morbid obesity,
anorexia nervosa and
bulimia.
Of course it is also seen
as an important cause
of depression.
Also higher risk of suicide
and addictive behaviors -
alcoholism, drug addiction,
gambling, compulsive
spending and promiscuity -
have also been linked to it.
It is also seen as one of
the root causes of criminal
behavior - burglary, violent
crime, sexual assault and
white-collar crime.
Low self-esteem can also
increase the stress levels
that can lead to unhealthy
behaviors such as
smoking and alcohol
abuse.
It has a spiral effect as well.
People that have low self-
esteem often have no
incentive to care for
themselves.
So instead of trying to improve
their health and their self-
esteem levels they already
give up so they remain
inactive and passive.
In addition it can affect how
you age, and can leads to
stress and increased risks
of high blood pressure,
heart disease, stroke
and cancer.
At the same time many
psychiatrists see low self-
esteem as having all the
hallmarks of a life-
threatening disease.
It is similar to depression,
anxiety and heart disease
in that it is a condition that
you cannot necessarily
control .
But the good thing is just
like many behavioral disorders,
low self-esteem does have
causes, symptoms and
signs.
The better news is that It is
treatable, and doing so can
greatly affect the quantity
and quality of your life.
What is important is that
you accept the condition
for what it is and resolve
to overcome it.
Giving up means that you
have already defeated
yourself.
And for more on boosting
your self-esteem so you
can give your health a
boost give this a look.
It's available right here.
You don't have to be in
hiding from yourself and
your health
To your inner health,
