Being human means to be social. Relating to others is necessary for total well-being. In this endeavor, one must ensure that they are presentable. And being presentable is part of good manners. It makes one capable and fit to be social. In the modern world, a social life can take one to places. Or get them a notch higher in whatever enterprise they are in. A healthy social life requires one to be mindful of their hygiene, one of which is dental hygiene. As for dental hygiene, is one of the major issues. Tooth decay is also referred to as dental caries.

Many people neglect a decayed tooth. There are those who regard the teeth as trivial aspects of the body. But one must take into account that tooth decay and gum disease can lead to ill health. In fact, when neglected and turns chronic, they can lead to death. It is because gum disease and tooth decay are associated with heart disease. Yes, it is highly possible. Such is why dental care and hygiene should be well tended to. Primarily, tooth decay has cosmetic disadvantages. It causes the tooth to appear deformed and unsightly. Other than that, tooth decay can also lead to bad breath.



One should well think of the consequences of bad breath. It can wreak havoc on their social life. But what really is a decayed tooth? Well, that’s basically it – a decaying tooth. It means it is not healthy. It is a tooth which is deteriorating. Tooth decay is when the tooth is invaded by an infection-like disease. This disease causes the tooth to be damaged. It slowly rots the structure of the tooth. Yes, the tooth becomes rotten with . Tooth decay spreads among other teeth. It worsens when treatment is not sought. When left to degenerate, a decayed tooth leads to the breaking down of the tooth.

Not to mention that it can be excruciating. Tooth decay is one of the largest diseases that has affected humans. It has a widespread casualty but the truth is, tooth decay is preventable. All it takes is for one to be conscientious about their dental hygiene and their diet. Prevention of tooth decay entails that one regularly brushes their teeth. By this it means brushing after every meal. Flossing is also essential in warding off tooth decay. It can help one get rid of dirt and bacteria in between the teeth. It would also be helpful if one has regular check ups with their dentist.

Other than dental visits for tooth conditions, a general dental check up every six months would be a vital measure. It is then that the dentist can perform an oral prophylaxis. By this, it means the teeth are thoroughly cleaned. Stubborn plaque from hard to reach areas of the teeth can be removed. Plaque is the stubborn cement-like substance sticking in the teeth. And it is the foremost source of gum disease and tooth decay. Other than this, one should also take caution with what they eat. Sugars are to be avoided so one can do away with tooth decay.

Improving the quality of food that one eats can greatly be helpful. This when it comes to preventing and maintaining overall health.
