Of the two types of Diabetes, type two Diabetes is considered the more common and most common in the age bracket of 40 and above. Affecting over 60 million Americans, type two Diabetes is said to occur in one out of four of these people. While researchers have yet to discover the cause of type two Diabetes otherwise known as “insulin resistance,” this resistance occurs when the body fails to respond in a proper way to the insulin that the pancreas is already producing.
The cells throughout the body become resistant to the insulin manufactured by the pancreas, making it more difficult for the glucose (sugar) to enter the cells, thereby causing elevated glucose levels in the bloodstream. Continued researches have clearly established the risk factors for type two Diabetes and these include a family history of Diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity, older age and race especially in Blacks, Hispanic and American Indian.

 Symptoms for type two Diabetes include excessive thirst, excessive urination, excessive hunger, unexplained weight loss, slow healing sores, dry and itchy skin and loss of feeling in the feet, tingling in the feet and blurry vision. When one or two of these symptoms are observed, it is best to have a diabetic check if only to have early detection of type two Diabetes.
Meantime, alongside the serious complications of type two Diabetes are increased risks associated herewith such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness and even limb amputation. Type two Diabetes can be sometimes so subtle that there are no noticeable symptoms and hence is only diagnosed with a blood test. Many people at risk are also usually overweight and have other associated conditions such as hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Type two Diabetes can be present with similar symptoms or sometimes more subtle symptoms reason why it is important to seek the advice of your doctor about how to manage and treat the condition.
