Studies now show disturbing facts that puts a face on eating disorders even in growing kids, teen-agers and young adults. Eating disorder has reached an alarming rate even in nations with the remarkable health system and well-established health policies. This disorder for a fact knows no boundaries now be it in race, gender or economic status. From binge eating to anorexia and bulimia, preventing eating disorder should be everyone’s concern yet more so by every parent in us.

Yet what if the parent is the one with the eating disorder? Sadly, here the children become the bigger victims and potentially, double victims for chances are they end up with themselves. Eating disorder is a serious disease reason why at the slightest hint of manifestation in your child, your self or someone you know, seek professional help. Treatment and management of the disorder is available. Order is possible on eating disorder. In most nations and communities, this disorder is not openly discussed much less advocated. As such, there is little or even distorted information on it reason why danger signs are nearby.



The potential is bigger here for the disorder to flourish undetected and untreated. Eating disorder is a serious disease. So serious that it can lead to the malfunction of our body’s organs and can be fatal if not aided at the soonest time. Recent medical breakthroughs have brought forth medications for treatment of the disorders. Because it is considered to be a psychological disorder as well, medications are offered such as antidepressants. Here management of the eating disorder must also extend up to the surrounding family members and if possible, support groups be made available to all. Eating disorder is no light matter. It can be fatal but even before that, lives are certainly changed. Again the disorder is a serious disease with serious complications. From health issues and concerns, eating disorder wrecks havoc on the lives of many but particularly children. If it is difficult for the one involved to cope with the disorder that has seemingly taken control of his or her life, how much more to the children? Extensive studies continue to consider the many whys and hows of .

Meantime, heed the experts’ advice – seek professional help for early detection leads to early treatment and early treatment leads to early cure. It can be fought and won. Go ahead and fight it.
