Examples of these are choking, excessive bleeding, drowning, poisoning and the stopping of ones breath or heartbeat. A first aid is what a person can do to a wounded or sick person, or on any immediate situation that involves life threatening matters, before the doctor arrives. The aims of first aid and emergency preparedness are: To keep the person alive; this counts for life threatening and immediate situations/cases. Another is to stabilize the condition of the person, and lastly, to relieve any pain, discomfort and most importantly, anxiety. Ideally, a first aider is someone who has attended classes on emergency care and has undergone first aid training. But not all of us have the opportunity to attend such trainings because of our individual work and activities. In relation to this, this article is dedicated to those people who do not have the knowledge of emergency treatment, as well as those people who want to know the basics of emergency treatment. Almost all of us will have to administer an emergency assistance at some point; and if this is so, we would have to use a first aid kit. This is the reason why it is always advised that every home should have a first aid supply, simply because an emergency knocks on the most unexpected time. Next is let us define the term emergency. An emergency is a sudden onset of a medical or surgical condition that is manifested by symptoms of sufficient severity that, in the absence of an immediate medical attention, could reasonably result to serious danger to ones health or it may impair bodily functions. Examples of these are: Head injury with drowsiness or vomiting, Loss of consciousness, Severe injuries sustained in accidents or falls, Broken or dislocated bones, the sudden or severe chest pain, the sudden or severe abdominal pain, an uncontrollable bleeding, Choking, and drug overdose or poisoning. In relation to this, here are some basic emergency first aid that you can do. First of all, remember to assign one person to call a doctor or an ambulance, while you administer a first aid. The next thing to do is to open and check airways; you should remove any materials that cover the mouth and the throat. You should also check the breathing, and if there’s none then proceed to mouth-to-mouth assisted breathing. Re-starting breathing has first priority, except when the problem is choking. Check also for severe bleeding, if the case is seen, then try to stop this. In cases where you suspect a spine injury; remember this: Do not move the person, and do not also turn or tilt the head. Just slide the whole body with head or neck support. Spine injury may be suspected if the person has fallen from a very high place, or has numbness/lacks sensation in/cannot move his upper or lower limbs. Another case to be considered is that, when a person is unconscious, but breathing normally and with no suspected spine injury, put him on a recovery position. And lastly but also very important, Do not leave the person, until medical help arrives. In cases where you are alone and no medical help has been called, and the person has no spine injury as well as the persons condition is stable, it is advised that you take the patient to a nearby hospital/clinic. It is not everyday that we are faced with this situation, but it is always a plus factor if you can administer such treatment; for all you know you may save a life. About the author. Wed, 17 Jun 2009 09:36:23 +0200 Alleviate The Pain And Discomfort Brought By Migraine http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/Alleviate-the-pain-and-Discomfort http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/Alleviate-the-pain-and-Discomfort To wake up each morning and to embrace a euphonic gift of good health and a sound mind is a gift beyond contestation. It is in this beautiful state that you can face the day with a smile, and work loads would seem like a mere play. This is an example of an ideal day free from stress and pain. And nothing can be more stressful than having to work with a Migraine. So let us first define Migraine, It is a recurrent throbbing headache that affects one side of the head and is often accompanied by nausea and disturbed vision. This kind of throb affects more women than men. And according to recent statistics there are only 6 percent of men that are affected by migraine compared to a total of 17 percent of women; and nearly 30 million people in the United States of America have Migraine. So what causes Migraines? The answer to this question varies to every individual who suffers. There are cases of infrequent attacks, and there are also people who have frequent recurrences of attacks like tension headaches, whose attitudes have been totally affected by such weakening pain. What then are the Migraine symptoms that we all need to know and remember? Well, one such primary symptom that we all need to know and remember is the intense throbbing and pain of the head; this pain usually extends up to one side of the head. There is also the symptom of head pains with the occurrence of vomiting, for others there is the visual disturbances that is affected. This may be felt between 2-4 days, and this in itself is very disturbing and as such weakens our body. With regards to visual disturbances of this condition, a patient may experience zig zag lines or flashing lines in their visions. Others still lose their visual senses as well; it is in this reason that ocular treatment is required! In this sense urgency is of the matter for such medical attention. According to Family Health Guide.co.uk a migraine sufferer needs to have a keen consideration and observation as well, because 25% of sufferers get warning symptoms approximately an hour before the occurrence of the headache. Here are some of the symptoms. The feeling of being pierced by pins and needles in the hands neck and shoulders; another is the losing of ones coordination; such feeling may include disoriented feelings, and having difficulty in speaking. Other simple symptoms that needs keenness of ones observation when having a migraine is the increase of ones urination, sweating, nauseous feeling or vomiting, light and noise sensitivity and stomach ache. Indeed this is a condition that needs attention. And such Migraine treatment is a must! Such treatments are pain relief treatments and preventive treatments. So what are pain relief treatments? These are drugs that are taken once the discomfort sinks in. These are prescribed for reasons of discomfort relief and other symptoms as well. And preventive relief drugs are those drugs that needs to taken regularly. The primary logic of this is to reduce the intensities of the agony. Lifestyle Check: Stress is a possible factor that may trigger such weakening headache. Are you having enough sleep? Or are you eating insufficient amounts of food? These two simple are factors that can trigger a very intensive and weakening pain. This simply means that if you are engaging into activities that can alter the time of your sleeping or if you are into diet plans that may help you lose weight but can be the reason that you develop a migraine then this may be the perfect time to stop! All these and more can help alleviate the discomfort brought by migraine. Though there is no guaranteed and accepted universal cure for this intense head condition, a good support from family and friends will be very calming and relieving for the patient. About the author. Tue, 7 Apr 2009 04:40:19 +0200 Should You Worry About Painful Ovulation? http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/endure-painful-ovulation http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/endure-painful-ovulation It’s that time of the month which most women dread- their monthly period. It is generally an unpleasant experience considering hormonal changes are taking place. These hormonal changes create a number of symptoms, not only during the days of the actual period, but more so, before the menses comes. Does the term “pre menstrual syndrome” sound familiar to you? And even if it is not, the experience of it could be a common occurrence in your case, as with many other women. A host of discomforts arise in pre-menstrual syndrome. Headaches or migraines, bloating and nausea are some of the symptoms, among others. Or worse, emotional difficulties begin to manifest, such as depression. And then again, there are women who attest that “PMS” creates a “monster” out of them, making them unreasonably moody and irritable. Along with these possible discomforts prior to your period is pain due to ovulation, otherwise known as painful ovulation. Nearly 20% of women experience and have to endure painful ovulation. There are those who may have painful ovulation mistaken for appendicitis or abdominal pain. But to differentiate the former condition from the latter ones, the symptoms ought to be ascertained. Pain when ovulating usually occurs two weeks before the menses. It takes place in the lower abdomen, or inside the hip bone. The pain can be felt on either side—usually depending on which ovary the egg cell is released. By “painful” ovulation, it could mean sharp pain or cramps, or minor twinges extending to a dull, nagging ache. After a day or so, nausea could be experienced along with light menstrual spotting. The light bleeding can last for 6 to 8 hours, to 24 to 48 hours. What is it that causes painful ovulation? Pain when ovulating is due to minor blood leakage from the ovary during ovulation. It’s the leaking blood which causes the pain as it irritates the abdominal wall. As for the intensity of the so-called painful ovulation, it often varies from one woman to another. A factor which contributes to the extent of the painful ovulation is the space between a woman’s ovary and her abdominal wall. If painful ovulation happens to be your problem, there is a redeeming point. The condition may not instigate gynecological problems. Ovulation is a phase of the fertility cycle, and even if it is painful, there is often no cause for concern or unnecessary medical treatment. Ovulation pain is in itself considered harmless. For this particular issue, you can see your doctor. He or she may recommend pain relievers. As a remedy, you have to drink plenty of fluids. You have to make sure that you’re not developing an infection in the same manner. Check your temperature several times a day to determine. Warm baths or a heating pad application can help alleviate the discomfort. But if the pain persists for 3 days or more, it may be time to take serious measures. Especially if along with painful ovulation other symptoms occur, such as high fever, faintness or dizziness, blood in the vomit or the stool, breathing problems, swollen abdomen or difficult and painful urination. In most cases, pain when ovulating is an occasional occurrence rather than a threatening malady. You can better monitor this condition by maintaining a chart or diary of your cycle. It is a helpful means of preparation and anticipating the occurrence which could spare you from unnecessary worry and further anxiety. About the author. Mon, 2 Mar 2009 08:43:00 +0100 What Condition Lies Behind Your Painful Periods? http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/painful-periods-due-to-adenomyosis http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/painful-periods-due-to-adenomyosis So it’s that time of the month which so many women dread. It does get swooshy, and sometimes it feels so messy. Worse, it can be painful causing you to wince and writhe now and then. More often though, menstrual cramps are tolerable. Menstruation being a normal and regular process for most women is often a phenomenon they have learned to cope with. But if it so happens that your periods have become too painful, then you ought to be concerned. When your painful periods have caused a significant disruption in your normal routine, you should begin to be mindful. What if your painful periods last longer than normal, and your gynecologist hasn’t helped you so far? You primarily have to know that there are female health problems which underlie your painful periods. Among these female health issues are endometriosis or adenomyosis. So first off, what is endometrioisis? Endometriosis is a condition wherein the endometrial lining of your uterus grows out of your uterus. This is an irregularity because the endometrial lining is supposed to grow inside your uterus. During your monthly cycle, the endometrial lining is discharged from your body. Usual pain or cramping during your menstruation is caused by the uterus trying to expel the lining. If you suspect you have endometriosis, it’s best that you talk to your doctor. There are several treatment options for this condition. And what about adenomyosis? Adenomyosis on the other hand results from your endometrial lining growing into your uterus. Painful periods take place with this condition because you bleed inside your uterine wall. An enlargement of the uterus could also result. Some doctors believe that adenomyosis develops due to estrogen dominance in the body. For treatment of adenomyosis, some doctors prescribe a progesterone-only pill. While this treatment measure does help, the treatment it offers is merely short term, that is, it is a “quick fix”. Regarded as the ultimate “cure” for adenomyosis is hysterectomy. Medications are also used to treat adenomyosis. Even devices like IUD’s are sometimes resorted to. Another “option” which is considered as the best remedy for adenomyosis is pregnancy. After all, progesterone is predominant in a woman’s body during pregnancy, thus it can resolve the particular issue of estrogen dominance. But then again, once the pregnancy is over, it might as well be anticipated that adenomyosis will recur. Apparently, a woman has to be wary of taking birth control pills when suffering from adenomyosis. Painful periods due to adenomyosis is due to too much estrogen in the body. Some birth control pills are high in estrogen content. These two female health concerns are possible causes of painful periods. However, it may be difficult for the doctor to diagnose them. For one thing, other conditions with similar symptoms (such as fibroids) must primarily be ruled out. But painful periods are discomforting. Much more so if they cause you to curl up in bed and perennially pop pain medications. Being wedged in your bed and agonizing with painful periods for days is not normal. If your painful periods cause a major interruption in your normal routine, then it’s time that you seek professional help. About the author. Constipation is a condition where you find it hard to expel your stool. There are many factors causing it. Some of these are the hardening of the stool often caused by improper diet; some are hormonal; and others are side effects of some drugs you’re taking to cure your other illness. Among these causes, the most common is the hardening of the stool. If this is the cause, then you really don’t have to worry so much because it is really easy to prevent and cure. All you need is discipline and the right attitude. Here are the home remedies for constipation of this kind. By following these, you also be able to prevent it. There is no substitute for eating healthy foods. Healthy eating always gives us the best result for our body. Among the healthy foods that doctors recommend are fruits and vegetables. Processed foods like canned goods have plenty of preservatives which could cause the hardening of your stool and also not good for your digestive system. Healthy diet must be coupled with drinking of plenty of water. Like fruits and vegetables, water can do a lot of wonders to your body too. So have at least 6 to 8 glasses a day. It is recommended that you should at least drink a glass after every two hours and don’t wait to drink only when you feel thirsty. Since your constipation is caused by the hardening of your stool, then water will help soften it thus making it easy for your body to expel it. These two home remedies for constipation will be most effective if you exercise regularly. Exercise helps your system to function properly, especially the functioning of your digestive system. It also helps your body to get rid of toxins and burn those unwanted fats. So make it a habit to exercise regularly. Thu, 8 Jan 2009 05:15:57 +0100 Natural Ways To Get Rid Of Headaches http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/natural-ways-to-get-rid-of-headache http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/natural-ways-to-get-rid-of-headache Do you always suffer from headaches? Are you one of those people who are afraid to swallow over-the-counter medicines? Then, why don’t you try these natural ways to get rid of headaches. There are many drugs available to cure headaches. They’re convenient, cheap and effective in giving you immediate relief. But you also have to bear the harmful side effects they bring. That’s why more and more people today opt for natural cures. So here are some of the natural ways to get rid of headaches. They’re safe, cheap, convenient and yet as effective as those harmful drugs. When you have a headache, sit back and relax. Then gently massage your head, neck and shoulders. Sometimes headaches are caused by the tightening of our muscles. A gentle massage will loosen the tightening and will help ease the tension that has been building up. You could do this yourself or by someone. It’s best if you have someone else to do this so that you could relax well. You may also try acupressure. The idea behind it is somewhat similar to acupuncture but without the use of needles. In order for it to work effectively, it is best that you at least have some knowledge of the acupressure points in your body. One part of your body that has many acupressure points is the palm of your hands. Know some of these points, and you’ll know how to ease the pain in your head by just pressing on a particular point. These natural ways to get rid of headaches are effective for mild ones only, but these may also help in case you’re suffering from chronic ones when a potent medicine is not yet available. In case, you’re suffering from a more severe one, you may take herbal medicines in the form of supplements. Look for natural supplements that have cayenne and gingko biloba. These natural herbs are known for their efficacy to cure headaches. They’ve been used by many people since then. Also, make sure that you always have a steady supply of tea in your house or office. A cup of tea will surely give you relief. There are so many varieties of tea sold in stores. Look for some that suit your taste. A cup of tea if mixed with the right herbs makes a potent headache medicine. One more thing that you should never forget is to drink plenty of water everyday. Sometimes, the pain we feel is only caused by dehydration. So the best cure for this is also the cause. Doctors recommend that we should drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. These are just some of the natural ways to get rid of headaches. They’re simple yet effective in curing your headache. This does not mean however that you no longer have to consult your doctor. It’s still best to see your doctor to give you a correct diagnosis, especially when you’re frequently having a severe headache. Meanwhile, when you have not yet consulted your doctor you must try these natural ways to get rid of headaches. About the author. Fri, 3 Oct 2008 08:35:37 +0200 Letting Go Of Emotional Pain http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/emotional-pain http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/emotional-pain Pain is part of all that we are. We live with it, or else we have to. It is a fact everybody has to face up with. Pain is of varied sorts. There is physical pain, and there is emotional pain to mention two. A physical infliction may be unpleasant, or even excruciating, but it eventually heals. But what of pain inflicted on a person’s emotions? Emotional pain leaves no visible scars. In time, the intensity of the pain may lessen, but for some people, it may not heal, or at least not for a significant period of time. Wounds inflicted on the intangible essence of a person often leave imprints, and for some it may be for a lifetime. As much as such instances are disheartening, they are a fact. This is the reality of pain, or emotional pain. The experience can be crippling- it can kill a person little by little. It can blind them to all the other worthwhile aspects of living. It is not so much that emotional pain should be stopped. In many cases it can be of massive intensity and suppressing it will only aggravate. Part of having to cope with emotional pain is to acknowledge it. If you are hurting, accept that you are as there is most likely a reason for it. You are hurting because of an incident, an experience or a person, and this you have to acknowledge. Your emotions, even pain, is part of who you are, so do not deny that aspect of you. After some time when your emotions have simmered down and you have gained some perspective, rise a bit above your pain- analyze the situation. You are hurting because of the thoughts you have thought of. Your thoughts have caused your pain. If you continually think of the event or person who has caused your hurt, all the more you will be hurting. You are feeding your painful emotions. As your emotions intensify, they again feed your thoughts, and you will be trapped in a vicious cycle in which healing may evade you. Clear your thoughts and keep an empty head for the moment, and then moment by moment. Stop thinking, and if any thoughts associated with the event or person start creeping in, just say halt. Divert your attention on to something which will make you feel life- breath, or your breathing. Get lost in the moment of breathing. Watch your breath and feel your breath as it enters your nose. What does it feel like as you inhale and as your breath goes down into your chest. Then slowly, slowly breathe out. Feel the release and the liberation of the moment. Be keen and sense every bit of the sensation and experience. This will occupy your mind and keep it from harboring negative thoughts. When negative and painful emotions begin to pervade, revert to doing this activity- get lost in the moment of breathing. Think of a time when you were in love or felt love. Of an experience wherein you felt fond or affectionate of someone or something. Capture that positive feeling and hold it in your heart, then intensify it. At that moment when you are holding that positive feeling, think of the person or event which has caused you pain. As the memory of the painful experience comes to mind, you may begin to feel toxic emotions. But allow the positive feeling to surpass it. Steer your focus and your senses towards that positive feeling. Eventually you will no longer associate pain with the event or person. You are training yourself to feel positive emotions instead of negative ones caused by your thoughts. You will be protecting yourself from the harm the thought of the experience can cause, and you will learn to let go. About the author. Tue, 12 Aug 2008 08:55:02 +0200 Painful Ovarian Cysts- What To Do http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/painful-ovarian-cysts http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/painful-ovarian-cysts What are ovarian cysts? You’ve probably heard about it and have your own preconceptions. To some, it may sound something threatening, yet others may have the notion that it is a common condition. The fact is, ovarian cysts are common to women who have regular menstruation. This condition beset women who are in the age group of 14- 55 years old, the period between puberty and menopause. But what really are they? In it’s simplest sense, cysts in the ovary are nothing more than fluid-filled sacs. They are like blisters which can be found in a woman’s ovary. The ovaries are a woman’s reproductive organs which produce egg cells. Women have two ovaries, one on both sides of the abdomen, and these organs perform crucial reproductive and physiological functions. After a few months, a typical “normal” cyst in the ovary disappears on its own. More often, in cases like this, the doctor would advise you to sit back and wait. This may technically be the correct advice, but there are other factors to take into consideration. In such a condition, a woman can suffer from pain, or else known as painful ovarian cysts. Painful ovarian cysts are well..painful. A woman suffering from such pain knows how annoying it can be, and in fact it can be such an awful pain. With painful ovarian cysts, a woman may experience a dull ache in the abdomen. Or else it can be a sensation of fullness or pressure in the area. There might also be difficulty when urinating, and/or painful and irregular periods. Another discomfort which goes with painful ovarian cysts is pelvic pain during or after intercourse. But what doctors often do with the ovarian cyst condition is to watch the cyst over a period of time. If they get larger, then the doctor may arrange for further tests to be performed. This will help determine what other action is needed. In most cases, an ultrasound may be required. In many cases, ovarian cysts are benign, meaning they are harmless. Then again, there are some cases when the cysts are malignant, and are therefore threatening to the health. Professional medical advice is best sought in such a circumstance. A decision to perform surgery might be arrived upon, but it’s best to get second opinion about it. Then there are natural or alternative treatments which are resorted to by some women. For instance, they may take herbal supplements or supplements rich in antioxidants. Another recommended natural means to treat ovarian cysts is a change in lifestyle. In this sense, the diet has to be modified, and one should engage in regular exercise. There is a specialized diet recommended for the condition. If you suffer from ovarian cysts, the diet may be appropriate for you. You can look for more information about it from your healthcare professional, or otherwise research in credible sites online. The doctor may suggest that you sit it out and wait, but this shouldn’t be taken literally. While waiting for time and your condition to decide whether the cysts will disappear on their own, you have to do your part. And that is to take action to live better and healthily so that conditions will become favorable and there will be improvements in your health. About the author. Wed, 9 Jul 2008 05:47:40 +0200 Leg Pain And Growing Pains In Children http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/growing-pains1 http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/growing-pains1 During the ages of 3 to 12 years old, children go through a growth spurt period. Along with this transition may be discomforting symptoms, such as aches and pains. For instance, a child might complain of having achy legs. When the child experiences it but doesn’t have a fever, then he/she might be going through growing pains. And what are growing pains, you might ask? Growing pains are muscle aches experienced by children in their legs, typically late in the day and at night. Growing pains is not a disease nor is there evidence that bone growth could cause such a discomfort. But when children stop growing, or when the teenage years arrive, growing pains tend to stop. One third of all children are said to suffer from this condition. Often, the pain occurs in the muscles behind the knee, the calf muscles and in the front of the thigh. Both legs are more apt to be beset by this symptom. Some physicians believe that this phenomenon happens because children are generally active during the day. There is a strong impact to the musculoskeletal system because of this over-activity. Children tend to overuse their muscles during the daytime, and so the symptoms of growing pains have the tendency to strike at night. In some cases, the aching starts before bedtime. For other children, aches may not be there prior to sleeping, but later in the night they could be awakened by the discomfort. By morning, however, aches and pains are likely to go away. How is it to relieve growing pains? Daily exercises and stretching as well as massages could help. Allow your child to push his/her muscle by pushing the foot and toe as far as they can go. While doing so, massage you child’s calf and then the muscles in the upper thigh. Another helpful measure would be to apply a moist heating pad. Doing this few times in a day would help with the relief. Make it a point that you child continues the exercises even when the pain subsides. This will keep the muscles relaxed. As for nutrition, make sure that your child gets enough iron, calcium and potassium. Drinking plenty of fluids is essential as well. These would prevent cramping which often goes with growing pains. A glass of tonic water or quinine would also help, as suggested by some physicians. Evidences are yet to be established regarding this, but giving tonic water to your child before bedtime won’t hurt. Other than home remedies, conventional medications could give relief. For instance, ibufprofen, such as Motrin, Advil, or others. So is acetaminophen such as Tylenol. As for aspirin, it is inadvisable to give it to children. If your child’s symptoms cause you to be concerned, consult the doctor. That way, a thorough evaluation and diagnosis can be made, and suitable treatments applied. And if the condition becomes alarming and is accompanied by other symptoms, your child would be in the hands of a qualified professional. Otherwise, growing pains will disappear in due time when your child has overcome the growth spurt period. About the author. Wed, 11 Jun 2008 05:29:18 +0200 What’s Causing Your Abdominal Pain? http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/abdominal-pain1 http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/abdominal-pain1 There are many and different causes of abdominal pain. Such causes can range from being minor to threatening. Fortunately though, the minor causes are more apt to occur frequently rather than the serious ones. Abdominal pain generally originates from different parts and organs of the body. It could be from the esophagus, or from the stomach and the bowel. For women, it may come from the female organ. Other sources can be the gall bladder and the rectum. When abdominal pain occurs due to the appendix, it is usually felt on the right lower quarter. If the gall bladder is involved, then the right upper quarter would be affected. When the problem has to do with the kidney, the back usually suffers. Stomach irregularities would usually cause pain in the upper abdomen. Conditions concerning the female organ, the bladder and the colon more often affects the lower abdomen. These are generally the cases, but there are exceptions to these symptoms. Abdominal pain becomes intermittent when hollow organs such as the gall bladder or the colon are involved. It may resemble colic or gas pains. It would be a constant abdominal discomfort when solid organs such as the spleen, the kidney or the liver are affected. Again, exceptions happen to these rules. The diverticula or colon out-pouchings can become inflamed, and this is yet another cause. Such a condition is called diverticulitis and seniors are more prone to suffer from it. A minor obstruction in the colon can also result to this condition. In severe cases and when bleeding occurs, a physician’s attention has to be sought immediately. Localized abdominal pain is often suggestive of a serious condition rather than generalized pain in the area. But then again, there are many exceptions to this rule, too. When the problem is caused by minor viral infections or gas pain, then home treatments might be the simple solution. In chronic cases, surgery may be required. The stomach should be empty to perform diagnostic tests and prompt surgery. Solid foods are to be avoided and one ought to just take sips of water or other clear fluids. In some minor cases, a good belch, bowel movement or letting gas out would remedy the problem. One should not hold back in this case. An enema would help if one hasn’t moved bowels for several days. A warm bath would be helpful as well. For persistent abdominal pain, and evaluation in the doctor’s office or the emergency room might be necessary. As much as these rules seem to be so specific, there are exceptions. For minor conditions such as heartburn, gas pains or gastroenteritis, treatments can easily be employed and the problem would be resolved within 24 hours. The causes of abdominal pain are varied. One should be keen on observing the symptoms and the nature of the pain. To get more thorough information, one can ask their health care provider or a medical expert. Matters such as patient history and discussion of possible causes are also crucial in coming to an accurate diagnosis and in giving the most suitable treatment. About the author. Mon, 24 Mar 2008 15:14:29 +0100 Easy Ways To Get Rid Of Neck Pain http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/neck-pain1 http://www.healthzine.org/Pain-treatment/neck-pain1 More often, the cause of neck pain has to do with poor posture. It can be quite as simple as that. Sitting for long hours in front of the computer and being hunched can cause pain. Or so can a poor sleeping posture. And stress as well- this can instigate the discomfort. The neck muscles are likely to become tensed as a response to stress. Eventually, this can lead to the onset of pain in the area. More so, headaches may go with it. Poor posture and stress- these are among the most common causes of neck strain and even pinched nerves. Approximately 70% of all cases of pinched nerves have to do with improper posture. By a pinched nerve, it means a disc which sits between two nerves may have been bumped out of place. Thus, neck pain can result and along with it a tingling sensation or numbness in the arms and hands. Such an occurrence would need the assistance of a medical professional. In most cases, neck pain happens when one sleeps in an awkward position at night. This unlikely posture when sleeping may cause tension to develop on concerned areas. These areas are often the muscles which run along the back of the neck. When one wakes up in the morning with neck stiffness, then this may be the case. There are easy ways to relieve this discomfort and possible annoyance. For one thing, one can stand under a hot shower and let the water run along the nape. The chin should then be pressed on to the chest for muscle stretching. This should be done for 30 seconds or so. The head is then held back, then a short pause only to flex the head again. This would relieve and loosen tensed muscles. There are other handy measures for neck pain as well. One and again is to take a bath towel and then fold it lengthwise. This should be used to wrap around the neck before bedtime. A massage would also be very helpful, and so is relaxing. Pharmaceuticals such as ibufprofen, aspirin or naproxen are options as well. They ought to be used as directed and they can relieve pain and inflammation. A healthcare professional might recommend certain exercises. They would serve to alleviate the pain and improve the muscles. This could then aid in keeping the disc in place. And there is one most important thing that one can do at home. That is none other than to improve their posture. One has to make sure that the head doesn’t bend forward too much. What does it actually mean when one is seated in a proper posture? It means that a straight line can be drawn from the ears, the shoulders and down to the hips while one is sitting. Another helpful option for neck pain is a natural pain relief product. One such proven product is available in the Healthzine store- Eazol. Eazol is made up of natural and herbal ingredients thus its safety and efficacy are ensured. Eazol is guaranteed to deliver pain relief without the dangers of addiction and side effects are also less likely to occur. About the author.
