Among women, dieting and rapid weight loss over a short period of time can result to hair loss. Excessive intake of supplements such as Vitamin A can also cause female hair loss. Stress which can be physical or emotional in nature can also be a precursor to hair loss although not necessarily everyday stress.

What instigates the condition among women is excessive stress brought about by trauma which is of a long duration. Several treatment options are available for female hair loss. A woman can resort to an FDA approved product for female hair loss treatment which has the main component of minoxidil which is a DHT inhibitor. Another option is natural female hair loss treatments which can be effective as they are made up of hair growth vitamins, herbs and minerals and they are generally safe producing no side effects. Others may address hair loss by using wigs, hair thickeners and hair transplants but they are generally less advisable.
