A Healthy Home Means Better Living And A Healthy You

Tags: , , ,

It’s your home, a place you dwell in, a place you have to live with. Whether it takes you well, or if it is well “welcoming” for you, it depends on you. It’s how livable you make your abode which determines whether you are cozy or comfortable in it. Or functional, or happy, or healthy.

A healthy home- perhaps you shouldn’t undermine its significance. And perhaps you shouldn’t take for granted how vital “healthy” is in general. You might have gotten sick or ill at some points, and you know how discomforting it is harboring an illness. And if you happen to be unmindful of tending to your house well, then it could virtually make you sick.

Ever heard of a “sick” building? It can apply to your living place as well. It means it can make you sick. When it comes to a “sick” house, the problem might primarily have to do with indoor air pollution. With this particular concern (indoor air pollution) health issues such as allergic reactions could arise.

Allergic reactions are common for sensitive individuals, or those with a weakened immune system. If you are hypersensitive or else suffering from allergies, then it’s in your best interest to avoid sources of indoor pollution. Elements causing indoor pollution usually have to do with materials of your home construction, and the ventilation.

To keep ward off pollutants, take note of your house’s heating system. Dust and mold might have accumulated in the furnace ducts. Mite feces and mold spores could spread all over the place once the air blows. That’s a minus towards you having a healthy home. To prevent this particular problem, have the ducts cleaned at least once a year.

When you notice your sinuses getting stuffed up whenever the furnace is on, then the duct cleaning would be well useful, and needed. Another dilemma is laminate cupboards, counter tops and floorings. Particles of these constructions are preserved and held together by formaldehyde and adhesives. These substances give off toxic fumes.

“Toxic” that it is, it basically takes the healthy home setting out of the picture. No more healthy home it is for you because the fumes can give rise to headaches and a diminished immune system functioning. If you have new carpets, the same problem can take place- giving way to the fumes.

In addition, more dust gathers within your home area. Envision a healthy home scenario — opt for natural flooring such as wood or tile instead. For the cupboards, you can prefer those made of real wood rather than pressed board. A healthy home- create the ideal by minding your new drapes and living room furniture.

Upholstery fabrics are often treated by chemical additives. If you experience headaches, then the flame retardant and resistant chemicals could be the culprits. To deal with this issue, purchase from manufacturers with products containing safer, less toxic flame retardants, especially if you are hypersensitive. For painting concerns, or if you’re painting your house, use low VOC paints.

VOC means volatile organic compounds, which are also toxic. Choose paints with low VOC, and are therefore less toxic. But then again, if you must use these materials in your home, you can still keep a healthy home. Your abode can be as conducive for health as it can be if it is well-ventilated.

Let the air move freely in your home and air breathable at that. Breathe air which keeps you healthy, and you become healthy. This makes a healthy home.
