The Quirks Of Women Dating Married Men

Tags: , , ,

2008-10-02As much as there are moral and ethical issues involved, there are women who date married men. But putting morality and ethics aside, there is some sense why these women do. For a woman who is more inclined to date a married man, she ought to know- the experience can be confusing or frustrating.

But what is it which makes a woman attracted to a man who has a commitment? Married men give off a vibe of stability. Stability is important in today’s world, yet it is rare. Are you this one of these women who get attracted to the vibe which married men exude? If so, brace yourself, it is going to be somewhat of an emotional roller coaster ride.

For such an experience, you have to prepare yourself mentally. Whether you like it or not, his first commitment is usually to his wife and his family. You are most probably an afterthought, and worse, a fleeting amusement. Being in such a position will entail not only mental preparedness, but toughness.

Are you up for the emotional disadvantages the situation might put you through? Be honest with yourself and understand what is it that you want. What kind of relationship do you expect- somewhat of a romantic affiliation, or a casual-friend style date? Or on the other hand, are you expecting a “real” relationship? If you anticipate the latter, where do you see it going? Is it about the sexual escapades or fulfillment from time to time? Or perhaps having someone to cuddle with in front of the tv? Are you entertaining the thought of him leaving his wife? You are less likely to compromise yourself if you expect a casual friend style dating.

You can go for weeks on end without seeing or hearing from him and you are well with that. But on the other hand, if you expect him to leave his wife, you will be setting yourself for disappointment, to say the least. Or to put it bluntly, prepare for the idea of an amazing heartbreak.

There are married men who are honest from the beginning. They will say they are committed, and will stay that way. And if a man will indeed say he will leave his wife, he may do so simply because that’s what you want to hear. There may be married men who leave their wives for the other woman, but it is rare.

Analyze your attraction towards your married “affiliate”. Are you having a relationship with him because you feel “safe”- emotionally, physically, or both? Some women will assume that a married man is safe to be with physically because he has only been with his wife for a number of years. They are under the notion that a married man has not really slept around and is less likely to have a sexually related disease.

But this man has chosen to sleep with you, and isn’t it possible that he has done so with other women as well? It might feel “safe” on the emotional side to date a committed man. After all, he is committed. On your part, it does not entail that you commit to the relationship.

There is no need for you to consider whether you should be faithful or not, and you will not need to agonize whether he himself is. You know the answer to that. And as you are aware of it, you are prepared for what may seem the worst. And there will be less room for you to compromise your emotions in the future.

Dating a married man can create massive amounts of confusion for the woman involved. Be sure you are 100% honest with yourself before you decide to move forward with such a venture.
