Why does an individual need to undergo surgery? Knee replacement surgery is otherwise known as total knee joint arthroplasty. This procedure is one of the most performed operations all throughout the world. Nearly 200,00 knee replacement surgeries are carried out annually in the United States alone. With the trend in medical tourism, many patients from the United States and UK go to India to avail of lesser expenses for knee replacement yet with equally efficient medical services. The procedure is used to address knee problems with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Such joint conditions generally cause a wearing and tearing down of the knee joint.

A knee replacement surgery is in fact straightforward. This as medical care and expertise have currently grown to be of better quality. When deciding on getting a knee replacement surgery in India, there are certain advantages. Medical facilities in India are comparable to those in UK and the US. Indian corporate hospitals are in fact at par with hospitals anywhere in the world.

In the same manner as that of Western hospitals, India offers world class facilities. There are of course disadvantages with medical tourism. They are generally those which relate to drawbacks with the patient being totally foreign to a country. In this sense, the risks and the benefits are preferably weighed before deciding on the undertaking.
