To Apply Or Not To Apply Skin Moisturizer

Tags: , ,

Essential to beauty is a skin care regimen. But when it comes to using skin care products for a regimen, is there such thing as too much? Perhaps so. Experts who take into account women’s beauty welfare generally recommend that pertaining to use of beauty products, it is best to stick to the basics. The less the beauty products are applied, the better. What about a ? Is it a must for a woman to use such a product? Every woman has a different skin make-up, so it may be reasonable to say that using a skin moisturizer is a subjective matter.

For instance, skin moisturizer is not needed by a woman with oily or acne prone skin as it will only aggravate her skin condition. By all means, skin moisturizer, as the name implies is necessary to add moisture to the skin- to keep it hydrated. Such is basically required by dry skin. But there are women who remain overly conscientious with their skin care regimen that they cannot seem to part with their day and night creams. For such women then, what are the essential elements to look for in a skin moisturizer? Primarily, a skin moisturizer has to contain emollients and water binding agents.

Emollients are those components which keep the skin from drying while water binding agents on the other hand are ingredients which attract water to the skin and keep it contained in the skin. Other than that, a good skin moisturizer should also have anti-irritants and antioxidants. Daytime should have well-formulated sunscreen components. For women with combination skin, a much more thorough skin moisturizer regimen is needed. By combination skin, it means that one has an oily T-zone area- that of the forehead, nose and cheeks- and elsewhere, the skin is normal to dry. At some points, most individuals will experience having combination skin and the best skin moisturizer regimen is to use an oil free skin moisturizer in the T-zone while applying light skin moisturizer on other areas.

To normalize combination skin, a woman may need to apply two different kinds of products on different skin areas. Another alternative is to skip applying skin moisturizer all together on the T-zone and just moisturize the eyes and the cheeks. For those with dry skin wherein wrinkles are more obvious, a skin moisturizer which makes the skin look smooth and supple may be helpful. Water-based skin moisturizer with plant oils and shea butter can provide the skin with essential moisture and it is best applied on damp skin to lock the moisture in. For those with sensitive skin, the best to resort to is apparently that which contains no fragrance or potentially irritating ingredients.
